The Rock is not scheduled to take part in the WrestleMania 31 festivities March 29 at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California, but The People's Champion isn't ruling out the possibility of a WrestleMania 32 return against Brock Lesnar.
According to Nick Schwartz of USA Today, the sometimes WWE Superstar and full-time Hollywood sensation revealed to Chris Van Vliet of WSVN in Miami that a match with The Beast Incarnate could potentially be in the cards.
In Dallas? Possibly. There's a lot of things that are up in the air. Lot of things are up in the air. We'll see. I would love that rematch, I would love ... whatever it is, you want to create something that's going to be special, memorable, especially in Dallas at that stadium you have a shot at breaking the attendance record. It's got to be special.
WrestleMania 32 will be held next year at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, which also plays host to the NFL's Dallas Cowboys. WWE Chairman Vince McMahon would obviously love to pack the venue, which is capable of holding more than 100,000 fans, and pitting The Rock against Lesnar would be a great way to do it.
Van Vliet is among those who have expressed interest in seeing The Rock and Lesnar lock horns on the grandest stage of them all:
There is definite uncertainty surrounding the viability, though, due to the fact that Lesnar's contract status is up in the air.
At WrestleMania 31, Lesnar will defend the WWE World Heavyweight Championship against The Rock's cousin, Roman Reigns. Lesnar and The Rock have an interesting history together as Lesnar famously beat The Most Electrifying Man in Sports Entertainment for his first WWE Championship at SummerSlam 2002.
The Rock admitted during a July 2014 appearance on ESPN's SportsNation that plans were in place for him to face Lesnar at WrestleMania 30, but they were scrapped due to an injury:
There is no question that The Rock is a very busy man due to his movie commitments, but he clearly still has a great deal of love and respect for the company that made him a star.
Although he hasn't wrestled since losing to John Cena at WrestleMania 29, a clash with Lesnar may be the one match big enough to lure The Rock back to the squared circle.
