Mike Jones of The Washington Post confirmed the deal.
McCoy started his career with the Cleveland Browns before making a one-year stop with the San Francisco 49ers and then joining the Redskins. He completed 71 percent of his throws with four touchdowns and three interceptions in five games (four starts) for Washington last season.
As Schefter mentions, the team's quarterback situation now looks the same as it did last year. The triumvirate combined to post a passer rating a shade under 90 last season. It had an equal number of touchdowns and interceptions (18), while the Redskins went 4-12.
Head coach Jay Gruden previously announced that Robert Griffin III will enter the 2015 campaign as the starter. Given his mediocre play over the past two years, it wouldn't be a surprise if McCoy ends up starting a few games before season's end, though.
