Kyle Busch Plays the Spoiler by Winning the O'Reilly 200

On a beautiful night, with the threat of rain to the south, Kyle Busch ends Ron Hornaday Jr. win streak at five, taking the win in the O'Reilly 200 at Bristol Motor Speedway, his third win of the season.

Busch collected his 12 win in 63 Truck races, it's the also another win with crew chief Richie Wauters as the team swapped the crew chiefs around.

Ryan Newman in the No. 2 Pringles Chevrolet starts on the pole, and it's his first career pole in the series.

Mike Skinner in the No. 5 Exide Batteries starts in the outside pole position.

Ron Hornaday Jr. in the No. 33 Georgia Boot Chevrolet starts third, Colin Braun in the No. 6 Con-Way Freight Ford starts fourth, and Brian Scott in the No. 16 Toyota Tundra Toyota starts fifth.

At race time it's 77 degrees, 36 trucks started the race with three teams going home, and the pit window is 160 to 170 laps.

The teams will only be making one stop, we may see pit strategy used and with a lot of cautions a few might not pit at all.

On the Lap One start, Newman would take the green flag, but by turn two Skinner would have the lead. Hornaday was several truck lengths back in third and you had three wide action on back throughout the field.

Kyle Busch in the No. 51 Miccosukee Resorts Toyota and Braun would have slight contact, but both would gather it up and have no problems from it.

By Lap Two, Skinner had a six truck length lead on Newman. Hornaday was a couple of truck lengths off of Newman's bumper in third and behind him was a log jam of trucks.

On Lap Three, the best racing was Braun in fourth, battling with Busch in fifth for the position, and a lap later Busch would be running fourth. 

Then on Lap Five, Timothy Peters in the No. 17 Strutmasters.com Toyota in sixth starts to challenge Braun for fifth.

By Lap Eight, we see Skinner on the high side, start to have second place Newman start to challenge him for the lead trying to pass on the low side and Hornaday would be half a second back in third.

Three laps later both Skinner and Newman are still battling for the lead, while Hornaday—in third—has fallen 1.118 seconds back of the front runners.

Skinner keeps hanging onto the lead is on the high side, while Newman at times is right on his bumper and tries the low side to make the pass stick, but just can't get momentum to pull it off.

On Lap 15, Busch would pass Scott for fourth on the high side and starts reeling in Hornaday in third.

Also still have three wide racing action all over the track and some great battle with the lapped trucks battling to be the first truck a lap down.

By Lap 16, Skinner and Newman are still going at it for the lead, the blistering pace has them catching slower traffic, putting them a lap down and only 30 trucks are on the lead lap.

Skinner would continue to hold onto the lead on the high side, while Newman just can't make anything work on the low side to make a pass stick.

Then on Lap 18, Busch running in fourth would catch and pass Hornaday for third on the high side.

He also radio to his crew about his truck being tight, but he started flying on the high side and made up three positions since the race started.

On Lap 22, the best racing on the track was with the rookies; Tayler Malsam in the No. 81 One Eighty Toyota in 23rd, Johnny Sauter in the No. 13 FunSand/Rodney Atkins/Curb Records Chevrolet in 24th and James Buescher in the No. 10 International Maxx Force Diesel Ford in 25th are battling it out for those positions with the leaders coming.

Meanwhile Skinner in traffic has open a close to a second lead on Newman in second and he continues lapping slower trucks some are two or more laps down now.

On Lap 26, Busch running in third place has caught Newman in second crusining on the high side and a lap later he'd pass Newman to take second using the high side to make the pass stick.

After 28 Laps, the top five was; Skinner leading, Busch second, Newman third, Hornaday fourth, and Scott fifth.

On Lap 31, Busch has caught Skinner the leader, they start battling for the lead and a lap later Busch would take the lead passing Skinner on the low side.

The first caution came out on Lap 35, for Malsam and Todd Bodine in the No. 30 Ventrilo Toyota had contact, both would spin and end up bouncing their front ends off of the inside wall.

Both would end up behind the wall, making lengthy repairs, but make it back out to race with Malsam finishing in 31st and Bodine 32nd.

On Lap 37, Everyone pits making the first of two stops, most take tires and make adjustments and a couple just take fuel only.

On Lap 38, Jason White in the Gunbrokers.com Dodge leads, Chris Jones in the No. 87 Copy Wizard Chevrolet is second and Hermie Sadler in the No. 48 Victory junction/Sadler Foundation Chevrolet is third stay out, everyone pits and Hornaday misses his pit road.

On Lap 39, Hornaday, Newman and Skinner come back to the pits, the KHI teammates for fuel and Skinner to service a speeding penalty that resulted from a slow stop by his team.

Under the first caution, Ken Schrader in the No. 52 Federated Auto Parts Chevrolet won the Aaron's Lucky Dog Award and is back on the lead lap.

After pit stops, the top five was; White leading, Jones second, Sadler third, Scott fourth and Peters fifth.

Hornaday restarts 17th after his pit road error, but has plenty of time to make it up. Cautions will help him bring the field together, and with his restarts he can make up positions each time.

On the Lap 42 restart, White takes the green, gets a great start on Jones, and Sadler gets passed by Scott for third.

By Lap 44, White leading has open up a second or more lead on Jones in second, who has Scott in third place all over his bumper.

The best racing is between Jones in second on the high side and Scott on the low side.

As the two are battling it out for the position, for the last four laps and at times are side by side, but the lap traffic keeps Scott from making the pass stick.

On Lap 49, Jones hangs onto second and has Scott below him in third battling for the position. With a clear track in front of them, it looked like Scott might make the pass work, but he gets loose under Jones, saves it, and loses third to Peters.

The second caution flag comes out on Lap 50 for Nate Monteith in the No. 09 Graceway Pharmaceuticals Toyota having contact with Sauter and also with Dennis Setzer in the No. 8 Malcolmson Construction Chevrolet receiving slight damage.

Under the second caution, Chris Fontaine in the No. 84 Glenden Enterprises Chevrolet was the Aaron's Lucky Dog winner putting him back on the lead lap.

On the Lap 58 restart, White would take the green flag pull away from Jones in second. Both Peters and Scott pass Jones for second and third coming back to the stripe.

By Lap 60, the best racing on the track is between Scott in third and Busch in fourth, as they start to battle out for position.

They keep on battling it out over the last four laps—at times Scott and Busch are side by side—but Scott on the high side hung onto the third position.

Meanwhile, Hornaday has made it back to 12th place, Newman is 14th, and Skinner is 15th.

The third caution comes out on Lap 66, for debris off of one of the trucks as a piece of metal laying outside the groove below the white line.

Under caution, the top five was; White leading, Peters second, Scott third, Busch fourth, and Stacy Compton in the No. 60 SafeAuto Insurance Toyota runs fifth.

Max Papis in the No. 9 Geico Toyota was the Aaron's Lucky Dog winner under the third caution.

Brad Keselowski in the No. 29 BKR Chevrolet was on pit road due to electrical problems and his crew was changing some wires trying to correct it.

Keselowski would end up finishing 30th, as his engine knocked him out of the race early.

On the Lap 74 restart, White would take the green with Peters in second on his bumper. Peters would try to pass the leader on the high side, but can't make it stick with White on the low side.

By Lap 75, Scott in third and Busch in fourth start battling out for those positions respectively, and Hornaday has made it to seventh.

On Lap 76, White hangs onto the lead, as Peters is on the high side challenging him for the lead and the lapped traffic helps him hold off Peters.

Both Scott and Busch are side-by-side continuing to battle it out for third and fourth.

On Lap 78, Scott on the high side just keeps holding onto third, keeping Busch in fourth at bay and he can't make the low side side work to make the pass stick.

By Lap 82, White leading has opened a half second lead on Peters in second and a 1.110 second lead on Scott in third.

For the last four laps, the best racing has been Scott and Busch battling it out for third, and on Lap 87, Busch would finally make the pass for third stick.

By Lap 88, Crafton would pass Compton for fifth, and Compton would have Hornaday in seventh on his bumper.

On Lap 94, the best racing was J.R. Fitzpatrick in the No. 4 Equipment Express Chevrolet running in ninth and his teammate Newman in 10th.

Kevin Harvick Inc. continues to make history, as they become the only team to have three entries in a truck race and were all three chassis's have won races in the past.

On Lap 98, Busch would catch, then pass, Peters for second, and set his sights on White the leader.

After 100 Laps, the top five was; White leading, Busch second, Peters third, Scott fourth, and Crafton fifth.

By Lap 110, White still leads, he has Busch in second on his bumper, but uses Buescher when he laps him as a pick to hang onto the lead.

On Lap 114, both White and Busch are battling it out for the lead, but White on the bottom barely hangs onto the lead.

This is were White's older tires may hurt him against Busch's fresher tires, and White continues to use the lapped traffic to his advantage to hang onto the lead.

Five laps later, White on the high side, Busch on the low side continue to battle it out for the and White again uses the lap traffic to hang onto the lead.

On Lap 120, Scott (in fifth) starts to feel pressure from Hornaday (in sixth), who's on Scott's bumper.

Both White and Busch are still battling it out for the lead, side by side, but White again will use lap traffic to hang onto the lead.

On Lap 124, White and Busch are side-by-side battling for the lead, finally Busch perseveres pays off as he makes the pass stick on the low side coming to the stripe.

On Lap 125, Busch hangs onto the lead as he's lapping Sauter, White tries a three-wide pass, but wisely backs out as Sauter tries to battle to no avail to stay on the lead lap.

On Lap 128, Crafton is coming—he's running times as fast as the leader—and passes Peters for third.

After 130 Laps, the top five was; Busch leading, White second, Crafton third, Peters fourth, and Hornaday fifth.

By Lap 133, Busch leads, but Crafton would pass White for second and Hornaday would pass Peters for fourth.

By Lap 138, Busch still leads Crafton by a second, Newman would also pass Peters for fifth.

On Lap 140, Hornaday in fourth, is four seconds behind the leader Busch and starts to reel in White in third.

After 144 Laps, the top five was; Busch leading, Crafton second, White third, Hornaday fourth, and Newman in fifth.

The fourth caution comes out on Lap 150 for debris, this will erase Busch's lead on both Crafton and close to a five-second lead on Hornaday in fourth.

Terry Cook in the No. 25 Cajun Industries/Harris Trucking Toyota was the Aaron's Lucky Dog winner on the fourth caution and is back on the lead lap.

When pit road opened on Lap 154, White, Scott, and a few others made pit stops.

White stopped for four fresh Goodyear Tires, then made a second stop for fuel.

While Scott and along with a few others stopped to put on tires and make adjustments.

On the Lap 158 restart, Busch takes the green pulls away from Crafton in second, and Hornaday in third is right their on his bumper.

By Lap 161, Busch has a half dozen truck length lead on Crafton, Hornaday third starts to get pressure by Newman in fourth.

On Lap 163, Rick Crawford in the No. 14 Circle Bar/International Ford loses a right rear tire, but he makes it safely to pit road.

By Lap 166, the best racing on the track is between teammates Hornaday in third and Newman in fifth as they get really racy.

They'd battle it out for three more Laps, with Hornaday on the high side in third and Newman in fourth on the low side, but Hornaday hangs onto as he's in the preferred groove.

The fifth caution comes out on Lap 170, for Norm Benning in the No. 57 NBR Chevrolet gets loose and into the inside wall, but drives back to pit road behind the wall.

Buescher was the Aaron's Lucky Dog winner under the fifth caution and is back on the lead lap.

Both Red Horse Racing teammates, Peters and T.J. Bell in the No. 11 RHR Toyota have issues with flat tires and both will fair well having it happen under caution rather than under green.

On the Lap 176 restart, Busch takes the green, gets a jump on both Crafton in second and Hornaday in third, and starts to pull away going into turn three.

Three laps later, Busch would be leading Crafton in second by close to a second, and have a 1.502 seconds leads on Hornaday in third.

By Lap 181, the best racing on the track was Newman in fourth and Scott in fifth. Two laps later, Scott would use the high side to pass Newman for fourth.

On Lap 185, Busch still leads. The best racing is still Scott and Newman for fourth and fifth respectively, as Newman is right there applying pressure on Scott to re-pass for the position.

On Lap 187, Busch continues to pull away from Crafton in second, and now has a close to a two second lead.

Newman would also re-pass Scott for fourth and pull away from him.

By Lap 190, Busch now leads second place Crafton by 1.8 seconds and third place Hornaday by 2.8 seconds.

On Lap 192, Busch continues to pull away, Crafton in second is running faster times than Hornaday in third.

By Lap 196, Busch still leads Crafton by 3.001 seconds and Hornaday in third is 3.500 seconds back.

Busch would maintain his lead over the last four laps, neither Crafton in second or Hornaday in third will catch him.

Busch would take the white flag, come back around for the checkers, and would leave with back-to-back wins at Bristol.

Busch would bow for the fans, take the checkers, and do some victory burnouts to celebrate getting back to victory lane as he ends Hornaday five win streak.

Busch would win by 2.721 seconds over Crafton, and led 82 laps today. In victory lane, Busch thanked his sponsors, Billy Ballew, and the return of Richie Wauters and his crew.

Matt Crafton would finish second, never lead a lap, run a mistake free race, and only make up five points on leader Hornaday.

Ron Hornaday Jr. finished third, never led a lap, overcame a error getting to pit road, but other wise ran a mistake free race and did what he need to do as points leader.

Ryan Newman finished fourth, led one lap, ran a great race, and recorded yet another top five finish.

Brian Scott finished fifth, gambled getting tires with 50 laps to go,  made it pay off by collecting a top five, and picked up a position in the points by his hard work.

Positions six through 10th were: Aric Almirola, David Starr, T.J. Bell, Stacy Compton and Timothy Peters.

Jason White—who led the most laps tonight tih 86—would end up finishing 14th.

The Raybestos Rookie of the Race was J.R. Fitzpatrick, who finished 11th and ran a mistake free race.

The points now have Hornaday leading by 211 on Crafton in second. Skinner in third is 305 points back and Scott in fourth is 383 points back.

The next race is; Aug. 28: Chicagoland 250 at Chicagoland Speedway on Speed at 8:30PM the Set-Up Show and 9:00PM Race Time (Friday).
