Ron Parker Re-Signs with Chiefs: Latest Contract Details, Comments and Reaction
Even though it seemed like Ron Parker would be finding a new home, the free-agent safety has reportedly agreed to a long-term deal that will keep him with the Kansas City Chiefs.
According to NFL.com's Ian Rapoport, Parker's agreement with the Chiefs will pay him $30 million over five years:

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
That's a big investment by the Chiefs in Parker, who had an inconsistent performance last season, but it speaks to the team's belief that his highs are more indicative of what the future holds.
As B/R draft expert Matt Miller noted on Twitter, the Chiefs are taking the rare free-agent tactic of paying for what Parker's future instead of what's already happened:
In terms of what Parker can do, even though there were some down moments, like Terez A. Paylor of the Kansas City Star noting the 27-year-old gave up 15 completions for 174 yards and two touchdowns in a two-game stretch against Seattle and Oakland, there were standout moments.
The game that gets singled out, via Art Stapleton of The Record, is the Chiefs against the Bills when Parker was matched up with Sammy Watkins:
The Chiefs are also in an unusual circumstance with their safeties. Eric Berry's illness has left a void on the roster that didn't have an immediate solution, so Andy Reid had to be pragmatic about what would happen in the secondary.
Parker was thrust into a starting role for the first time last season and never looked overwhelmed. He was rewarded for that effort, as well as what he can become. The Chiefs believe enough in his ability to make this investment, so both sides get what they want to secure their future.
