WWE WrestleMania 2015: Superstars Who Deserve Biggest Push Leading Up to PPV

Brad JonesMar 13, 2015

The road to WrestleMania 31 has been largely centered around the ascent of one man—the heir apparent, Roman Reigns.

However, there's plenty more talent on the roster that's very deserving of a healthy push ahead of the biggest show of the year. The future could be very bright indeed, but for that to happen, WWE has to be smart about how it presents some of its most promising and valuable superstars.

Here are the wrestlers who most deserve their share of the spotlight as WrestleMania 31 draws ever-closer.

Daniel Bryan

It's strange to think that just a few months ago, it seemed that injury would be the biggest obstacle in Daniel Bryan's path to the main event of WrestleMania. When he returned ahead of the Royal Rumble, many fans felt that their guy was finally set to get his due—but that didn't turn out to be the case.

We now know that Bryan will enter the Ladder match for the Intercontinental Championship, a belt that seems to doom its holder to non-title losses on television rather than legitimize their accomplishments.

While things might seem bleak, there's still a chance that this could be the best place for Bryan's talents.

The intercontinental title itself is in poor shape, but the division surrounding it is not. The majority of the competitors contesting the strap at WrestleMania are among the most exciting athletes in WWE and just the sort of company that Bryan should be keeping.

Moreover, the star of last year's WrestleMania challenging for the Intercontinental Championship helps make that belt seem more important.

The fact that the match will likely be the best of the night will assist with this process too.

Bryan is a star in the eyes of much of the audience, but he's not being presented that way. He's perhaps the biggest victim of the blinkered focus on the main event picture.

However, an attempt to develop the card from top to bottom would help improve its quality immensely.

Bray Wyatt

With a match against Undertaker at the biggest show of the year coming up, there's little doubt that WWE considers Bray Wyatt to be one its best prospects for the future.

It's not difficult to see why—he's a huge talent who offers a presence unlike anyone else on the roster.

The one-sided build to his showdown with the Phenom has been quite perfect for Wyatt to demonstrate his capabilities. He's excellent on the mic, and he's stepped up his game considerably for the biggest match of his career to date.

Undertaker's theatrics wouldn't work with just anyone in the modern era. However, Wyatt managed to play off them quite brilliantly. It shows just how much he can tap into the more outlandish characterization that has all but left today's pro wrestling.

That being said, he's undeniably a modern take on this type of character. He has the potential to play an important role on the roster for years to come, but he needs to be depicted as a major player by WWE to do so.

Undertaker didn't become a legend by hanging around the midcard. It takes a bit of help for a character who dabbles with the supernatural to become legitimate, but once those foundations are laid, Wyatt will make sure that the investment pays off.

Rusev

The foreign villain is well-worn ground for WWEand pro wrestling in general—but it's easy to see that Rusev is on a different plane. While plenty of athletes have been placed in the Bulgarian Brute's position and stuttered, it's clear that the big man has more talent than your average monster.

Ever since recovering from a broken neck while in developmental, Rusev has been on an unstoppable rise to the upper echelons of WWE.

Plenty of wrestlers want that sort of success, but few have shown as much dedication to making it happen as the Super-Athlete.

It's easy to forget that Rusev made his main roster debut at Royal Rumble 2014, and he wasn't seen regularly on television until after WrestleMania. Over the course of that time, he's made huge improvements in the ring as well as in regards to his character work.

He's a main event-level villain and could well be for the foreseeable future. However, he's set to face John Cena at WrestleMania this year, and that's a bout that can easily slow the momentum of an up-and-comer.

Even in recent weeks, we've seen the once-dominant Rusev get his comeuppance from the leader of the Cenation. A loss at WrestleMania could severely derail his path to the top—and that's something that WWE can't afford to do.

Who do you think deserves a big push ahead of WrestleMania? Dolph Ziggler? Dean Ambrose? The Big Show? Let us know in the comments below.
