WWE Should Revive the Cruiserweight Championship to Help NXT Talent
WWE has a problem with size.
Vince McMahon's fetish for hiring giants is well-documented and has affected the main event scene in the company for most of its history.
However, take a look down to NXT and, with the exception of a few performers, awe-inspiring size is not really a feature of the roster. It's difficult to see how the top stars of Triple H's NXT will fit into the upper echelons of Vince McMahon's WWE.

Sami Zayn and Adrian Neville are both awe-inspiring performers between the ropes, but it's difficult to imagine that guys of their size will plug right in to the main roster main event scene. The fact that they deserve it is, unfortunately, not enough.
The same goes for smaller guys who are already on the main roster.
WWE has a terrible recent record with high-flyers, wasting the likes of Evan Bourne, John Morrison and Justin Gabriel. The former two are currently tearing it up and stunning crowds in Ring of Honor and Lucha Underground, respectively.
For me, the solution to this size problem is simple. WWE should bring back the Cruiserweight Championship.
In the mid-2000s, the Cruiserweight Title was a huge part of the Smackdown brand. Superstars like Rey Mysterio earned their pass to the main event after competing for the belt and many former Cruiserweight champions became mainstays of the tag team division.
The Cruiserweight Championship caters perfectly to the kind of fast-paced, spot-heavy action that the likes of Zayn, Neville and luchador Kalisto produce.
Cruiserweight matches were often used to open pay-per-view shows, getting the crowd hot with daring spots. This would be an ideal way to introduce NXT stars who fit into the weight class.
The return of the Cruiserweight division could remove the difficulties in getting over that have condemned the likes of Bo Dallas and Adam Rose to lower-card obscurity. It would be horrible to see Kalisto or Adrian Neville suffer the same issues.
It would be easy to see the Cruiserweight Championship as something that feels meaningless—just another minor title. However, exciting in-ring action would be enough to elevate the strap to the extent that it could do wonders for debuting NXT stars.
With the credibility of championship gold early in their main roster careers, it would be easier for these men to move up the card to the place where they belong.
