McCain's representation at DEC Management tweeted a photo of the cornerback signing his contract:
The 28-year-old McCain has spent six years in the NFL and played last season with the Pittsburgh Steelers after coming into the league with Houston. He appeared in 14 games, including nine starts, in 2014 and recorded a career-high three interceptions.
He told Teresa Varley of Steelers.com in February that 2014 was a huge learning season for him which taught him how to compete:
"I felt like if I came in and competed, this team will give you a chance to play. My feeling wasn’t wrong. I came in, competed, and fought hard. We have a lot of good players here. It was unfortunate Ike got hurt, but I got to play and put some good stuff on tape. It was a productive season for me and the team. It was a stepping stone for the team.
"
Now, McCain will look to help a Dolphins defense that continues to stockpile bodies in an effort to slow down reigning NFL champions the New England Patriots.
McCain joins a Miami defense that desperately needs help in the secondary. The team recently released Cortland Finnegan and needs to get younger in that area heading into 2015. He may not be the linchpin they want to build around, but he will provide a needed boost to this team.
