McCoy, Bills Agree on New 5-Year Deal
Sunday, March 8
The Bills shocked the football world on March 3, when they struck a deal with the Philadelphia Eagles to acquire McCoy in exchange for linebacker Kiko Alonso, according to ESPN.com's Adam Schefter and Mike Rodak.
Mike Garafolo of Fox Sports 1 stated that McCoy and his soon-to-be new team will have a new pact in place when the trade is officially announced, according to sources.
Josina Anderson of ESPN reported that the two sides have agreed on a five-year contract. Anderson also reported that the Bills added two years to McCoy's current deal and that the team expects him to report for a physical today.
Adam Schefter of ESPN spoke to Drew Rosenhaus, McCoy's agent, who confirmed a salary worth $40 million over the length of the deal, with $16 million the first year and $26.5 million guaranteed.
As Garafolo pointed out, this seems to suggest that McCoy is happy with his new situation despite initial reports to the contrary:
The 26-year-old superstar is one of the best and most explosive running backs in the game, and he will undoubtedly be a huge part of the offense that head coach Rex Ryan and offensive coordinator Greg Roman hope to execute.
