Griffin Undergoes Knee Surgery

Tuesday, Feb. 24

Although Griffin was somewhat limited in 2014 due to a torn labrum, he played out the entire NFL season. The veteran defensive back already underwent surgery to correct that issue, but it turns out that his knee was ailing him as well.

Because of that, the two-time Pro Bowler recently went through his second procedure of the offseason, according to Jim Wyatt of The Tennessean:

Following the surgery, Griffin posted this photo on his Instagram account:

Although there is no definitive timetable for his return, Titans head coach Ken Whisenhunt believes he could be cleared during training camp:

Prior to having the knee surgery, Griffin was hoping to come back much sooner, per ESPN.com's Paul Kuharsky:

"

Before I had the same surgery and I tore my labrum again—it was just a freak accident, the way I fell. So when they went in this time, they saw I'd ripped some of the anchors I already had in there. They added six more to it to make it more stable. It's probably going to be four to six months, so that's looking like coming back May or June. But I am shooting for OTAs.

"

With Griffin now having to recover from two injuries simultaneously, though, the expectations have clearly changed.

Griffin is a veteran, so missing OTAs and part of training camp may not seem like a big deal, but with the arrival of longtime Pittsburgh Steelers defensive coordinator Dick LeBeau, things figure to change on the defensive side of the ball.

With that in mind, there is even more pressure on Griffin to get back on the field as quickly as possible.
