Adrien Broner Talks John Molina, Maidana Rematch, Mayweather-Pacquiao and More
Love him or hate him, you can't ignore "The Problem." Adrien "The Problem" Broner's popularity in the world of boxing may be second only to that of Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao.
Despite the fact that Broner doesn't currently have a world title to his credit, he's still one of the most polarizing fighters in the sport. For that reason, he's been chosen to headline the first-ever Premier Boxing Champions card on NBC on March 7 against John Molina.
In the interview above, I had the opportunity to speak with Broner via phone about Molina, a potential rematch with Marcos Maidana and the upcoming superfight between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao.
Broner seemed focused on the task at hand, but he did reiterate his desire to face Maidana again in the future.
The event on March 7 also features a welterweight scrap between Keith Thurman and Robert Guerrero. PBC on NBC marks the return of boxing to network television in a major capacity. In conjunction with PBC, Al Haymon Boxing is not only bringing major stars like Broner, Thurman, Shawn Porter, Danny Garcia and Adonis Stevenson to NBC, but PBC also has deals in place with Spike TV and CBS.
With the accessibility of network television, boxing could be reintroduced to the public in a major way. Broner's March 7 opponent, Molina, talked about the upcoming bout and the first PBC event via an interview with Elie Seckbach of ESNews Reporting on YouTube:
Broner, a former three-division world champion, is the man chosen to kick off the PBC series. When asked about the responsibility/honor, Broner told me he plans to "put on a show."
