Alabama Football: Tracking 2015 NFL Combine Results for Former Tide Stars
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — While Nick Saban and Alabama are finishing up some recruiting before they gear up for spring practice, some of the Crimson Tide’s former stars are beginning the next step of their football careers.
Eleven former Alabama players will be in Indianapolis at some point this week for the NFL Scouting Combine, where they will work out for NFL personnel in one of the major landmarks in the buildup to the NFL draft.
It’s shaping up to be another big year for the Crimson Tide in the NFL.
Follow along with all of the action in this post, which will be updated throughout the week as players go through interviews and workouts.
Landon Collins
1 of 11
Collins enjoyed a standout junior season, leading the team in tackles with 102 and tying for the team lead in interceptions with three. He is a physical, athletic safety who can play close to the line of scrimmage or drop back in pass coverage.
He is expected to be the top safety taken in the draft. Bleacher Report’s Matt Miller ranks Collins as the top safety in the draft and the No. 12 prospect overall.

Amari Cooper
2 of 11
Amari Cooper played at Alabama as a true freshman, and he left Tuscaloosa after three years as the Crimson Tide’s all-time leader in just about every statistical category. Cooper doesn’t have eye-popping size (6'1", 210 lbs), but his top-end speed, body control and hands will make an NFL team very happy.
Miller rates Cooper as the No. 2 wide receiver behind West Virginia’s Kevin White and his No. 7 overall prospect.

Trey DePriest
3 of 11
DePriest stepped out of C.J. Mosley’s shadow this year and had a successful senior season as the team’s signal-caller, racking up 87 tackles. At 6’2”, 250 pounds, DePriest, is a bigger, run-stuffing linebacker, which won’t be as in demand now as it was five or 10 years ago.
Still, he should be able to carve out a niche with a team looking to shore up its run defense. DePriest is currently Miller’s No. 11 inside linebacker and 227th overall prospect.
Update:
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports that DePriest had postseason surgery to repair a torn meniscus and will not participate in combine workouts.

Xzavier Dickson
4 of 11
Dickson enjoyed somewhat of a breakout senior season, leading Alabama with nine sacks and 12.5 tackles for loss. He played outside linebacker in Alabama’s 3-4 defense but could end up as a 4-3 defensive end at 6’3”, 268 pounds.
Miller ranks him with the outside linebackers, No. 12 at the position and 189th overall.

Jalston Fowler
5 of 11
For all the big names in this Alabama draft class, Fowler may end up having the longest NFL career. He can run, catch and block, and at 6’0”, 248 pounds, he has ideal size for an athletic fullback.
Miller has Fowler as the top fullback in the class and No. 181 prospect overall, but Fowler could go earlier in the draft if a team is looking to add a versatile weapon to its offense.

Christion Jones
6 of 11
Jones finished his career on somewhat of a disappointing note, catching just 19 passes for 264 yards and a touchdown. But he’s proved over his career to be a reliable slot receiver who can return kicks and punts.
Miller ranks the 5’11”, 185-pound Jones as the No. 33 receiver and 233rd overall prospect.

Arie Kouandjio
7 of 11
Kouandjio helped his draft stock out big time, starting every game his senior year and thriving, especially in run blocking, next to true freshman Cam Robinson. He isn’t a slam-dunk guard prospect like Chance Warmack was coming out, and a major knee surgery two years ago will give some teams pause.
Miller currently has Kouandjio as the No. 6 guard and 143rd overall.
Update:
The Anniston Star's Marq Burnett reports that Kouandjio will only do offensive line drills this week.

Austin Shepherd
8 of 11
Shepherd was a reliable right tackle for Alabama in his final two seasons and became one of the team’s more vocal leaders too. He played guard at the Senior Bowl to show some versatility.
Miller has Shepherd ranked among the tackles at No. 19 in his position group and 230th overall.

Blake Sims
9 of 11
Sims was the perfect example of "wait your turn," finally getting his chance to start as a redshirt senior, where he set the single-season Alabama record for individual passing yards, total offense and team total offense.
At 6’0”, 208 pounds, his size will give some teams pause, but he could make up for that with his running ability and decision-making. Miller ranks Sims as the No. 11 quarterback and 249th overall prospect.

DeAndrew White
10 of 11
White proved himself to be a worthy complement to Cooper on the outside with some big-play ability. He was second on the team in receiving with 504 yards and four touchdowns. While he doesn’t have the elite speed or size (6'0", 192 lbs), he still could turn into a solid option for an NFL team.
White ranks as just the No. 43 receiver, per Miller, and 287th overall prospect.

T.J. Yeldon
11 of 11
If this were any other year, Yeldon would potentially be one of the first running backs off the board, but he will suffer from a very much loaded running back class. During his three-year Alabama career, he showed strong vision and quickness needed to succeed in the NFL.
Yeldon is currently Miller’s No. 5 running back but No. 50 overall prospect.
