Projecting the Remainder of the 2015 WWE Hall of Fame Class

Ryan DilbertFeb 17, 2015

WWE will look to a giant and a self-proclaimed living legend to fill out the 2015 Hall of Fame class.

The company will honor another group of mat men on the eve of WrestleMania 31. As has become tradition, the road to that marquee event includes the slow reveal of the latest inductees to the Hall.

It'll be hard to generate as much excitement, though, as WWE did when it announced that Randy Savage was finally getting the nod.

So far, Rikishi and Arnold Schwarzenegger will join him. Recent history says that we can expect to see at least three more names added to that list.

The Hall of Fame inductees for the last four years are as follows:

  • 2011: Jim Duggan, Bob Armstrong, Sunny, Abdullah the Butcher, The Road Warriors, Drew Carey
  • 2012: Mil Mascaras, Ron Simmons, Edge, Yokozuna, The Four Horsemen, Mike Tyson
  • 2013: Bob Backlund, Booker T, Mick Foley, Trish Stratus, Bruno Sammartino, Donald Trump
  • 2014: Jake Roberts, Razor Ramon, Lita, Carlos Colon, Paul Bearer, Ultimate Warrior, Mr. T

Looking back at these classes reveals a few patterns to help fans predict the 2015 group.

For one, WWE has taken to honoring wrestlers who strapped on their boots for other organizations. Abdullah, Mil Mascaras and Colon all did the bulk of their work elsewhere.

The women of the squared circle have been getting their due as of late as well. WWE has inducted a female in three of the last four years. That's significant because until 2011, there were only four women in the Hall total.

Working from these recent patterns and seeking out backstage reports allows one a clairvoyant view ahead, to see who WWE will honor on the same night as The Macho Man.

Miss Elizabeth

After WWE welcomed Trish and Lita, it covered two of its most glaring omissions in terms of females. Controversy is sure to leave Chyna out for the foreseeable future.

The most deserving woman not yet in the Hall is one of the most memorable managers in WWE history and a pioneer for the company, blazing a trail for women to play key roles in wrestling stories.

Elizabeth was a huge part of Savage's persona and career. She was the heart of the Savage-Hulk Hogan feud and often the woman Savage would fight to protect against any oncoming predator.

There is no better time to induct Elizabeth than when her late partner in and out of the ring is set to be honored. It's just too poetic a moment for WWE to pass up.

The move also gives the 2015 class both a female and a manager, rounding out the list of inductees.

Larry Zbyszko

To fill the spot that Colon and Mil Mascaras did in previous years, expect WWE to turn to a former American Wrestling Association world champ.

PWInsider.com's Mike Johnson reports that "WWE is planning to induct former AWA World champion Larry Zbyszko into the 2015 WWE Hall of Fame."

Much of Zbyszko's success came with AWA. He also worked for WCW and various territories. His WWE ties, though, make him a more likely candidate that other men who built their resumes outside of the company.

His feud with Bruno Sammartino remains one of WWE's most memorable. The student turned on the mentor, leading to a series of intense battles.

Having a WWE Legends contract in place also helps his chances. That, and his WWE-specific highlights make him a safer bet to join Savage and company than someone such as Ray Stevens.

Johnson had previously reported, "The two names that have been spoken about the most within WWE as likely being inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame this March in California are Randy Savage and Ray Stevens." The first name turned out to be right. The second may not now that there's word that Zbyszko may be heading to the Hall.

Stevens didn't stay with WWE long, briefly clashing with Jimmy Snuka and others in the early '80s. Even though WrestleMania will be in California, where Stevens had his most success, Zbyszko is a bigger name, especially with WWE-only fans.

Scott Hall is in. So is Hulk Hogan. It's time for the other founding member of nWo to enter the Hall of Fame.

Nash has a better case for induction than Hall, having been both WCW's and WWE's top champion. He makes perfect sense to get the nod. That's something WWE is reportedly talking about.

According to PWInsider.com (h/t Wrestling Inc), WWE has discussed the idea of welcoming Nash into the Hall of Fame this year.

He would be a good fit in this particular class as he can serve as the co-headliner. Savage's induction would be the bigger deal, but he is receiving the award posthumously. Nash can be the face of this class.

Bet on Big Sexy to follow up inducting Hall last year to receiving his own invitation this year.
