Breaking Down Ways for Dolph Ziggler to Make Impact at WWE Fastlane 2015

Donald WoodFeb 13, 2015

Dolph Ziggler is one of the most popular WWE Superstars on the roster, but he currently has nothing to do for the Fastlane pay-per-view later this month.

After Ziggler had his breakout moment at Survivor Series, the WWE Universe thought he was on the ascent to the main event. Here we are just a few months later, and The Showoff has been put on the back burner once again.

Instead of sitting idly by while the other top stars on the roster have memorable moments, the WWE and Ziggler must concoct a way for the former world champion to make an impact at the 2015 edition of Fastlane.

Save Sting from The Authority

Over the last several months, Ziggler has been tied to Sting's appearances. Whether it was at Survivor Series or the go-home edition of Raw before the Royal Rumble PPV, Sting has saved Ziggler on multiple occasions.

Now, it's time for Ziggler and fellow allies Ryback and Erick Rowan to save Sting.

There is little doubt that the face-to-face meeting between Sting and Triple H will lead to physicality. The Vigilante got the upper hand the first time the two men stepped into the ring, and The Game should get the upper hand this time.

With the help of The Authority, Triple H should attack Sting and beat him down for standing up to him. Just as all hope looks lost, Ziggler and the other fired stars the legend saved with his appearances should hit the ring and run off the heels.

Whether it's Seth Rollins, Kane, Big Show or even a new member of The Authority, saving Sting should lead Triple H to send one of his cohorts after Ziggler, thus starting the feud that will culminate at WrestleMania.

One intriguing option would be returning heel Sheamus going up against Ziggler.

Turn Heel and Cost Daniel Bryan a Victory

Turning Ziggler heel right now may not make sense to casual wrestling fans, due to the positive reaction he gets every time he hits the stage, but changing his character would mean a shorter road to the top of the card.

The WWE is in desperate need of heels, and Ziggler has proved in the past that he has the mic skills and attitude to pull off a bad-guy persona. The only way to get the fans to boo him, though, would be to have him cost Bryan the victory at Fastlane.

Bryan is the biggest face in all of wrestling right now, and he is squaring off against Roman Reigns for the chance to fight for the WWE Championship at WrestleMania. If Ziggler is looking to create a moment fans won’t forget, attacking Bryan and costing him the victory would cement his heel turn.

This is the best-case scenario for all parties involved. WWE would get Reigns vs. Brock Lesnar as the WrestleMania main event, and the fans would get a marquee storyline between Bryan and a newly heel Ziggler.

As much as the WWE should keep Ziggler face and capitalize on his ability to connect with the crowd, that simply hasn't been the case. A heel turn would at least open up several new angles, including The Showoff against Bryan on the biggest show of the year.

Fired Guys Join Forces Against The Authority

The final scenario also plays off Ziggler’s relationship with Ryback and Rowan. The three men were unfairly fired by The Authority and have been positioned together ever since John Cena won their jobs back with an assist from Sting.

With the Fastlane card lacking any real depth, adding a six-man tag team match featuring Ziggler, Ryback and Rowan against three members of The Authority would be an easy way to fill a major time gap at the PPV.

Mr. Money in the Bank Seth Rollins currently has nothing booked for Fastlane. Neither does Big Show or Kane. If these three men team up to take on the formerly fired Superstars, the result would be an entertaining match.

Ziggler and Rollins would be the focus of this match, and their in-ring styles would result in excellent chemistry. Big Show and Kane are good big-men workers, but they can focus on attacking Ryback and Rowan.

A singles match between Rollins and Ziggler would have been better, but with just over a week to build to a bout, the groundwork has already been laid for a monumental six-man tag team battle at Fastlane.
