Warriors Reluctant to Deal David Lee Before Deadline
Tuesday, Feb. 17
Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports reported that the Warriors are reluctant to deal center David Lee prior to the deadline, even if it means losing restricted free agent Draymond Green in the offseason:
"For the Warriors to find a way to keep Green, they'll have to move David Lee and the $15 million owed him in the 2015-16 season. Ownership has instructed management in Golden State that it doesn't need to find a deal for Lee before the trade deadline, because the organization simply doesn't want to upset the balance and chemistry of a championship contender.
Nevertheless, there are teams with interest in working deals for Lee that would include them receiving assets – primarily draft considerations – for taking on his salary and those could be options for Golden State before the deadline on Thursday, league sources said.

Warriors Unlikely to Make Any Major Trades Before Deadline
Thursday, Feb. 12
Often, contenders look to bolster their depth or add a spark for the postseason, but the Warriors appear to be more interested in keeping their chemistry intact than making any big splashes before the trade deadline this winter.
Assistant general manager Travis Schlenk said as much during a radio interview on 95.7 FM The Game with Matt Steinmetz and John Dickinson, per Steinmetz's blog:
"We’ve been good for the past couple years. Maybe not championship quality but we’ve been playoff caliber. I tell (general manager) Bob (Myers) all the time ‘Our job now is not to screw it up.’ When you’re sitting with the record we have, and the year we’ve had, you’d like to tinker but you don’t want to mess it up. Chemistry is such a big thing, and our group of guys has such great chemistry. We’d hate to do a move just to do a move and have it mess up our chemistry.
I don’t know we’ll do anything. We’re certainly active… But at the same time, we’ve got to be cautious as well.
"
Translation: If a perfect fit can be had at a cheap price, we'll probably pull the trigger. Otherwise, we're good.
Hey, who could blame the Warriors for keeping things the same? They have the best record in the Western Conference, arguably the league's MVP to this point in Stephen Curry and a dramatically improved defense.
They also seem to have great chemistry, doing things like going bowling together, photobombing live broadcasts and eating together on the road.

The Warriors may end up making a trade, or they could look to improve by other means. Tim Kawakami of the San Jose Mercury News wrote that, "The Warriors would definitely have some interest in Knicks PF Amare Stoudemire if he is bought out by New York in the next few weeks."
Amar'e Stoudemire certainly isn't the player he once was, but he would give the team some length and another big body to add to the rotation.
He's not the only veteran they've been linked to, as free-agent shooting guard Ray Allen has been linked to the team, per Brian Windhorst of ESPN. It's certainly not hard to see how the sharpshooting Allen would fit into Golden State's exciting offensive style of play.
But as for a trade, well, that seems unlikely. The Warriors will do their homework, they'll inquire, they'll poke and prod and see if anything shakes loose on the trade market, but more than likely, if this team adds any pieces, it will be of the veteran free-agent variety.
Sometimes, it's best not to mess with a good thing. That seems to be the approach the Warriors are going to take this trade deadline.
