
LaRon Landry Released by Colts: Latest Details, Comments and Reaction
The Indianapolis Colts have released safety LaRon Landry, according to the team's official website. The team also waived linebacker Andrew Jackson and offensive tackle Xavier Nixon.
Landry spent two seasons with the Colts, recording 150 total tackles, 2.5 sacks and two passes defensed. It's not surprising that the 30-year-old was cut, however, as Stephen Holder of The Indianapolis Star noted:

It also couldn't have helped that Landry was suspended four games last year for violating the league's performance-enhancing drugs policy.

Veteran Mike Adams generally outplayed Landry in 2014. Adams signed with Indianapolis during its minicamp last year and developed into the team's best safety, earning a Pro Bowl nod.
As Kevin Bowen of Colts.com noted, however, the position is now a need for the team:
In other words, expect the Colts to make safety a major priority during free agency and this year's NFL draft.
Washington selected Landry with the sixth overall pick in the 2007 NFL draft. After five seasons with the team, he spent time with the Jets and Colts.
Landry will surely surface with another team needing depth in the secondary, though not for the type of money he was earning with Indianapolis. He'll likely have to fight for a starting spot no matter where he ends up signing.
