David Sanchez vs. Juan Alberto Rosas: Fight Time, Date and TV Info
The WBA super flyweight title will be on the line Saturday, Feb. 14 in Hermosillo, Mexico, as David Sanchez defends his title against Juan Alberto Rosas.
Sanchez, 23, stands at 26-2-2. He has won his last 16 fights, including an impressive unanimous decision victory over Breilor Teran in May to capture the title. Rosas, 30, is 40-8-0 with wins in his previous two bouts.
For those looking to watch a slugfest instead of a romantic comedy on Valentine's Day, this battle should be the perfect remedy.

Although boasting less experience, Sanchez will enter the ring at the Palenque de la Expogan as the favorite. Tornado enjoyed an impressive 2014, beating Marco Demecillo, Teran and Anuar Salas in a span of seven months to earn recognition as Boxer of the Year in Sonora, Mexico, per WBANews.com's Hilmar Rojas Erazo.
His knockout ability is clear—20 of his 26 wins have come via knockout—and it was evident in those fights. He stopped Demecillo (fourth-round KO) and Salas (fifth-round TKO), and he put Teran on the canvas in the 11th round. Here's a look at some highlights from the first of that trio of fights:
And he's promising more of the same against the former IFB super flyweight champion.
"He was a great champion, a warrior in the ring, he is always (coming) forward," said Sanchez about the challenger, via Erazo. “I am ready for a big fight. Knockout is (what) you are going to have."
But Rosas shouldn't be overlooked.
After losing to Daniel Rosas in October 2013, El Topo bounced back in convincing fashion, beating Alejandro Gonzalez Jr. by technical decision and earning a seventh-round TKO against Jose Cifuentes.
He certainly has knockout power, as evidenced by his match against Cifuentes, but of his last eight wins, only two have come via knockout. Still, he is confident in his ability to win, and it doesn't sound like he's going to be shy in his approach.
“I am well prepared, we will win and I hope Tornado is ready to fight," Rosas said, via Erazo. "People know me, they know I die in the ring”.
Both of these competitors are more than willing to move forward and attack with an aggressive style. No matter who ultimately has his hands raised after the final bell is rung, this figures to be an entertaining fight.
At the same time, it will be interesting to see if this one goes the distance. Both fighters clearly have knockout power, but they also possess rock-solid chins. Among their 10 combined losses, zero have come via knockout.
One thing is clear, though. Whether or not the fight lasts four rounds or the full 12, there are going to be plenty of fireworks in Hermosillo on Saturday evening.
