Davis Exits with Back Spasms

Sunday, Feb. 8

Los Angeles Clippers forward Glen Davis had to leave the team's game against the Oklahoma City Thunder on Sunday with back spasms.

Rowan Kavner of Clippers.com reported the injury and added that Davis would be unable to return.

The Clippers had a rough day on Sunday. First, the team announced that Blake Griffin would be out indefinitely due to a staph infection in his right elbow. Then, "Big Baby" Davis was forced out of action during Sunday's game.

Davis has been a role player for the Clippers this season, averaging 3.5 points and 1.9 rebounds in 10.3 minutes per contest. Still, with Griffin down for at least a month, more than likely, Davis' role was likely to expand somewhat.

Thus, the Clippers will be keeping their fingers crossed that this injury is a short-term one. The Clippers are suddenly pretty thin, as shooting guard J.J. Redick also missed Sunday's contest due to back spasms. The Clippers went from being a fairly deep squad to a pretty thin one in the matter of hours.

Los Angeles will certainly be hoping Davis' back spasms don't prevent him from playing a bigger role with Griffin out.
