Daniel Bryan Is the Perfect Choice to Put Roman Reigns over at WWE Fast Lane

Erik BeastonFeb 6, 2015

When Roman Reigns won the Royal Rumble match and cashed in his ticket to WrestleMania, fans greeted the victory with a venomous chorus of boos, ruining what should have been the greatest night of his life. The audience was irritated that Reigns seemingly had the match handed to him, debated whether or not he deserved the win at this point in his career and singled out Daniel Bryan as a much more deserving victor.

WWE, hearing the criticisms, wasted little time injecting Bryan into the title picture on the February 2 episode of Monday Night Raw. On the broadcast, he defeated Seth Rollins in a high-profile main event, earning a match against Reigns at Fast Lane in which the juggernaut's title shot will be at stake.

The introduction of Bryan into the title picture will undoubtedly spark hope in his most passionate of fans that the bearded Superstar will have the opportunity to head to WrestleMania for a second-consecutive year, overcome the odds and capture the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, righting the wrong that occurred when he was forced to hand over the title due to injury last summer.

While that is absolutely a possibility, especially given the ever-changing landscape of WWE, the likelihood is that Bryan will be the next Superstar to fall to Reigns on his journey to 'Mania and a colossal showdown with Brock Lesnar.

And that is not a bad thing.

One of the biggest complains about the Royal Rumble match was the fact that Reigns did nothing to really earn his win. Outside of an early onslaught, Reigns laid around the ring, absorbing a beating. Only when he dumped Big Show and Kane, not considered to be the most elite of stars, did he do anything to deserve the victory.

Had he been faced with a scenario in which he had to defeat Bryan, rather than WWE Creative choosing to eliminate the former champion in an attempt to soften the blow for later in the match, perhaps the crowd would have been more respectful of Reigns and his win.

At Fast Lane, Reigns not only has the chance to wrestle a phenomenal match against someone many consider the very best in the industry, but he has the opportunity to earn the respect of some by knocking off a much more valid and credible threat in Bryan than anyone he defeated in the Rumble match.

Best of all is Bryan's never-ceasing ability to make any opponent look as good as possible. Anyone who steps in the ring with him is better off than they were previously, and, given the questions surrounding Reigns' ability to wrestle a quality singles match, holding his own against the top stars in the business, it would give him the momentum needed as he embarks on the road to WrestleMania.

There will always be detractors. One win over Bryan will not turn the crowd in Reigns' favor. In fact, there is a very real chance it further turns them against him. But of every Superstar on the roster, there is no better option to help Reigns over the final hump heading into WrestleMania than the man universally loved and respected by fans and co-workers alike.

Bryan is that man and come February 22, he will hold the future success of Roman Reigns as a viable main event attraction in his hands.
