WWE SmackDown: Spoiler-Free Preview for Feb. 5

Ryan DilbertFeb 5, 2015

Rage and resentment built on Raw travels to the Feb. 5 edition of WWE SmackDown.

Erick Rowan, Curtis Axel and Seth Rollins all have reason to be seething after Monday's Raw, and they will each get a chance to clobber the source of their anger on Thursday.

The lineup set for the next SmackDown allows the show to pick up where Raw left off. Fast Lane sits on the horizon, with wrestlers looking for wins en route to that pay-per-view and WWE still adding matches to the card.

WRESTLING: OCT 02 AEW Dynamite/Rampage Pittsburgh
Monday Night RAW

Colorado Springs, Colorado, welcomed WWE's Superstars on Tuesday night. All the action that the company taped that night won't air until Thursday at 8 p.m. ET on Syfy.

The following preview is a spoiler-free look at all the bouts on tap.

Goldust and Stardust vs. Dolph Ziggler and Ryback

Tension is building between the Rhodes brothers. Many of their recent losses have come by way of miscommunication or one partner crashing into the other. On Monday's Raw, that led to Stardust and Goldust bickering backstage.

Can Stardust stop hissing at his partner long enough to focus on Ziggler and Ryback?

This match will show fans just how fast this partnership will unravel. The brothers could turn into enemies as quickly as Friday night, or WWE may be pacing this story to climax at WrestleMania.

The direction the company has in mind for both Ryback and Ziggler will be worth noting as well. Neither man has a current feud outside of their lingering issues with The Authority.

Dean Ambrose vs. Curtis Axel

The last time these two met, Ambrose flung Axel over the top rope before calling out Bad News Barrett. The brawl that followed is a natural lead-in to the official match the two will have on Thursday's SmackDown.

It promises to feature some solid action, considering the mat skills of both men involved.

Story-wise, fans will be wondering if this is just a warm-up match for Ambrose as he prepares for an Intercontinental Championship bout with Barrett. Otherwise, Axel may work his way into contention. A victory for the third-generation star points to an Intercontinental title Triple Threat match taking shape.

Fandango vs. Adam Rose

A pair of wrestlers with no direction square off.

Rose has had a soft alliance with Cesaro and Tyson Kidd, but with little purpose. WWE dropped the story of him battling The Bunny and hasn't done much with his heel turn.

Fandango has been non-existent on WWE programming for the most part. This will be his first SmackDown match in 2015.

These two men's position on the card and the fact that this pits a dancer against a party enthusiast will have fan expectation low.

Roman Reigns vs. The Miz

Reigns' route to WrestleMania got a lot messier after Monday's Raw. Triple H now has him putting his No. 1 contender's spot on the line against Daniel Bryan at Fast Lane.

This is his chance to gain some momentum before that bout, especially after suffering a loss on Monday night. Big Show knocked off the powerhouse with Seth Rollins' help.

He should be angry and focused, something The Miz can't be happy about.

Should Damien Mizdow be at ringside, he won't be there in a stunt-double capacity. Miz fired him on Raw, offering him a personal assistant gig instead. WWE can either play this for laughs, with Mizdow taking center stage, or allow Reigns to flex his muscles in a more serious contest.

Erick Rowan vs. Rusev

Rowan will have no trouble finding the motivation to pounce on Rusev. These two were supposed to wrestle on Monday's Raw, but Rusev attacked him before the bell, throttling him in and out of the ring.

Should this match not be interrupted by another ambush, it pits a man in the midst of an up-and-down stretch against a man who has yet to fall by pinfall or submission.

Rowan is a huge underdog here, occupying a much lower rung on the WWE ladder. The company doesn't seem to know what to do with him. He's hovered around a story centered around The Authority, but only as a bit player.

Regardless of the outcome, this has the potential to be a fun, physical battle of hosses.

Paige vs. Alicia Fox

Fox gets a chance to redeem herself, having lost to Paige on Monday's Raw.

Paige has revenge on her mind. After rolling Fox up for the win last time out, she found herself shielding herself from an attack. Fox teamed up with Nikki and Brie Bella to rough her up and cover her torso in tanning spray.

With a Divas Championship match coming up, Paige needs some momentum. Another ambush from the Bellas could certainly get in her way.

Daniel Bryan vs. Jamie Noble, Joey Mercury and Seth Rollins

It took guts, heart and some help from Reigns for Bryan to take down Rollins on Monday's Raw. He'll need more of all of that now that he has to face J&J Security as well.

Instead of taking cheap shots from outside the ring, Noble and Mercury are going to get to deliver legal blows to Bryan.

Rollins has to be furious that Bryan earned a crack at Reigns with that last victory. He, along with his security team, can damage Bryan before that bout.

Bryan vs. Rollins was excellent. Should this feature a lot of those two stars going full-throttle again, it could well be the match of the night. With the added bodies around, though, fans won't be surprised to see this descend into chaos.

In this match and several others, the night centers around the reverberations from Raw. What aftershocks will SmackDown leave behind?
