Michigan Football Recruiting: Predicting All the Recruits Who Will Sign on NSD
On Wednesday, Feb. 4, Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh will sign roughly 16 student-athletes to the Wolverines' 2015 recruiting class.
So far, the newly appointed leader has nine commits.
However, he has a few more days to tie up loose ends and convince prospects that choosing Michigan is in their best interests. With national signing day just around the corner, it's time to predict which players will sign with Harbaugh's Wolverines.
Each position targeted will be included in this slide. There will be a note if said position isn't applicable to this year's class.
Factors in the predictions include players' interest in Michigan, per 247Sports, latest visit and credible reports indicating that they'll either sign or join another team.

Quarterbacks
1 of 9
Albuquerque Eldorado's Zach Gentry and Birmingham Brother Rice's Alex Malzone are the only two quarterbacks committed to Michigan, and they'll likely be the only two who sign with Michigan on NSD.
Gentry, of course, was a late addition. He just committed on Jan. 22, whereas Malzone's been on board since May. Gentry, 6'7", 230, is the No. 8-ranked pro-styler of 2015. Malzone, 6'1.5", 200, is No. 13 among pocket passers.
Since Gentry was a late addition, there's no reason to think he'll do anything but sign on the dotted line Wednesday. Malzone has time and time again reaffirmed his allegiance to the Wolverines.
Book both for NSD.
Running Backs
2 of 9
First he was in, then he backed out and chose Ohio State, and now he might be coming back. Well, that's what Michigan fans are hoping for in regards to Mike Weber, a 5'9.5", 219-pound power-back out of Detroit Cass Tech.
Harbaugh reportedly met with Weber this past week, which gives enough reason to believe that he's at least 50-50. Weber even said Harbaugh was a "cool guy," if that helps. Ohio State is stacked at the position as well—having Zeke Elliott certainly helps—so Weber could opt to play for a team that offers immediate playing time.
The immediate playing time would come at Michigan, which has running backs but is obviously looking for more to stabilize the rotation. Weber would be a great fit.
But don't expect him to sign. Urban Meyer seems to have a strong grip on this one, regardless of what Michigan fans think.
The rest of Michigan's targeted group at running back is either committed to another school or no longer interested in the Wolverines, who recently swung and missed on Wisconsin commit Titus Booker, the No. 50-ranked back of 2015.
Wide Receivers

UPDATE (4:49 p.m., Feb. 2)
Grant Perry has an offer to Michigan, per 247Sports. The 6'0", 180-pound 3-star WR from Brother Rice was previously committed to Northwestern. Safe bet he signs on NSD. Note: 247Sports had Perry's status as "committed" but quickly changed it to "favorite" after initial update was posted.

Michigan doesn't have a wide receiver committed to its 2015 class, unless Brian Cole of Saginaw Heritage counts as one. The 4-star athlete is enrolled, which means he's signing on NSD, and could actually play wideout in Jim Harbaugh's new offense. He could also play as a defensive back.
That said, replacing George Campbell, a 5-star who decommitted more than a year ago, has to be a prime objective for the Wolverines, who just lost junior Devin Funchess to the NFL draft.
Ryan Davis, a 4-star Floridian, could be a great slot option. He won't "replace" Funchess or Campbell, but he'd add zest to the offense and fill a need at the position.
At 5'9.5" and 187 pounds, he's not the biggest of prospects, but Harbaugh's staff liked enough of him to extend an offer on Jan. 14. According to 247Sports, Florida, Auburn, Kentucky, Maryland and Alabama are among Davis' top suitors.
Ole Miss commit Van Jefferson has also received major interest from Michigan, which just offered Jan. 30. The 6'2", 183-pound 4-star is a deep-ball threat and has sturdy hands. Quarterbacks like guys like Jefferson. So does Michigan passing game coordinator Jedd Fisch.
Deontay Burnett, a 3-star Washington State commit, visited Michigan this past weekend. However, contrary to reports from Scout and 247, the 6'0", 166-pound Californian hasn't flipped to Michigan, per MLive's Nick Baumgardner.
Let's go ahead and get risky here: Davis, Jefferson and Burnett will each sign with Michigan on NSD. At least two of them will, anyway. There are plenty of available snaps at Michigan, which has a young but unproven stock of pass-catchers.
Tight Ends
4 of 9
Michigan should get both of its top tight end targets: Chris Clark of Connecticut and Tyrone Wheatley Jr. of Buffalo. Each rated as 4-star prospects, Clark and Wheatley have what the Wolverines need: big bodies and big hands.
Blocking from tight ends has been an issue for Michigan, and so has health. Throw all 6'6" and 247 pounds of Clark and and all 6'6" and 260 pounds of Wheatley—whose father, Tyrone, is now Michigan's running backs coach—into the mix, and Harbaugh would have a winning combination of both skills.
Clark's decision is reportedly down to UCLA and Michigan. Wheatley also has strong interest from the Bruins, Alabama, USC and Oregon.
Offensive Line
5 of 9
Michigan's O-line has been a hodgepodge of rotations, fill-ins and substitutes. Basically, former coach Brady Hoke tried everything in order to remedy the front's failures during the past three years. The line may have shown slight (minuscule) improvement in 2014, but it didn't show enough.
That said, it's imperative for the Wolverines to bring in their top targets. Patrick Allen, a 6'5", 286-pound tackle/guard, is among those top choices. The Maryland 4-star prep isn't committed and reportedly has "warm" interest in Michigan.
He last visited in September.
The Wolverines also have tackles Jon Runyan Jr., son of Michigan great Jon Runyan Sr., Grant Newsome and Nolan Ulizio on board for 2015. Each of the three should sign on NSD.
Let's go ahead and say Allen decides to join and round out what looks to be a solid crop of O-liners. Despite Harbaugh's lack of time to gather more, a four-man O-line class would be adequate.
Defensive Line
6 of 9Arden Key now has Michigan's attention. The 6'5", 230-pounder recently decommitted from South Carolina, and his 4-star services would be more than welcome in Ann Arbor, which is now home to defensive coordinator D.J. Durkin.
Michigan's picked a couple of stragglers thus far, so getting Key, a weak-side defensive end, to say "yes" to Michigan seems possible.
OK, it's very possible. Possible enough to predict that he'll sign on NSD.
Reuben Jones, a 3-star strong-side defensive end, just flipped from Nebraska to Michigan. Considering the lateness of Harbaugh's arrival, snagging the 6'3", 223-pound Floridian from the Huskers was a magnificent show of power by the Wolverines' new coaching staff.
Jones is committed. He'll sign, of course.
Shelton Johnson could also sign on NSD. Also from Florida, the 6'5", 220-pounder visited Michigan on Jan. 16 and is among a handful of likely late additions for Harbaugh, who's scoured left and right for quality recruits since officially taking over on Dec. 30.
Johnson, a 4-star, is reportedly "warmer" on Florida State, but don't discount Michigan at this stage of the game. There is a chance that Johnson could "go blue" on NSD.
Terry Becker has been a name thrown around for roughly two years. He has an offer, but the 5-star DT out of East St. Louis has never really shown a lot of interest and will pass on the Wolverines.
Linebackers
7 of 9Losing Darrin Kirkland certainly put a dent in Michigan's plans for 2015 linebackers. The 4-star out of Indianapolis, like seven others, decommitted during the Wolverines' free-fall 2014 season. He'd obviously be a great get, but his ship has sailed.
That said, the Wolverines have moved on to others, and Roquan Smith, a 4-star OLB out of Georgia, seems to be a prime candidate for Harbaugh's upcoming class. Ranked No. 5 overall at his position, the 6'2", 205-pounder is somewhat undersized but possesses great instincts and awareness. Overall, he's one of the most athletic linebackers of his class.
So there's that.
And here's this: In the spirit of predictions, Smith signs on NSD. According to 247Sports, he has "warm" interest in the Wolverines, UCLA, Texas A&M and Georgia. He was also among the flurry of visitors during Jan. 15/16, a weekend that impressed a few recruits.
According to 247Sports, the Wolverines' only other standing offer is to Jeffery Holland, a 4-star OLB who will likely either choose Auburn or Florida.
The Secondary
8 of 9Despite a rough 2014, the Wolverines secondary is rich with an abundance of talent.
On NSD, commit Tyree Kinnel will sign with the Wolverines and add to that stock. The 6'0", 205-pound Ohioan showed great poise during Michigan's downward spiral of 2014. Instead of doing the popular flip, he stuck with the Wolverines and said no to Notre Dame and Alabama.
The Wolverines lost 4-star corner Garrett Taylor during the turmoil, but they've turned to Iman Marshall and Jarius Adams to remedy the loss.
Marshall, a 5-star, is probably bound for Florida State or USC. But Michigan made a valiant late attempt to secure him.
He's reportedly "warm" for Michigan, but he probably won't sign on NSD.
That said, Adams, who visited Jan. 30, seems likely to flip from Rutgers, and his next move could certainly be signing a letter of intent with Michigan. However, the 5'11", 180-pounder has attracted late interest from Wisconsin, for which he's "warm," but he's reported to have the same feelings for the Wolverines, too.
Book him for Michigan.
Special Teams/ATH
9 of 9Michigan has one of the top athletes of 2015 in Brian Cole. The 4-star in-stater will likely play receiver and maybe even take snaps as a defensive back. As mentioned earlier in the slideshow, he's enrolled at Michigan and will absolutely sign on NSD.
Chris Williamson recently visited with Michigan's new secondary coach Mike Zordich; he's also being recruited by Doug Nussmeier, who was released from Michigan but picked the same OC job at Florida. Those conversations were probably interesting, to say the least.
But back to Williamson and Michigan, which isn't exactly a likely combination. According to 247Sports' Crystal Ball, there is an eight percent chance of him signing with the Wolverines. So he'll get a zero percent chance in doing so from this slideshow, despite his Jan. 23 visit.
Andrew David, a 5'9", 165-pound kicker, will sign with Michigan on NSD. Michigan severely lacks in the field-goal game now that Matt Wile is gone. David, the No. 14-ranked kicker of 2015, could probably help immediately.
If not, the Wolverines could ask Jabrill Peppers to handle those duties (kidding, kidding).
