Luis Suarez to Arsenal Transfer Rumours Emerge, Latest News on Barcelona Star
Arsene Wenger is once again being linked with a sensational move for Barcelona's Luis Suarez, a player he failed to sign before the Uruguayan left Liverpool last summer.
According to Dan King of The Sun, "The Arsenal boss believes he will have big money to spend on a top striker this summer and Suarez would be his No. 1 choice."
This rumour is called "sensational" by Nick Lustig of the Daily Star, who cites sources in Spain suggesting Andoni Zubizarreta's sacking as Blaugrana sporting director sees Suarez's future thrust into "uncertain" territory.

Zubizarreta was the man who brought the 28-year-old to the Camp Nou, but he was later sacked for "transfer mistakes," according to Pete Jenson of The Independent.

Although this transfer appears extremely unlikely, the rumour is at least based in truths. Wenger failed with his notorious bid to lure Suarez from Liverpool in 2013, offering one pound over £40 million in an attempt to trigger his buyout clause.
Suarez stayed at the Reds for the 2013-14 campaign, in which he nearly fired the Merseyside club to the Premier League title with a stunning haul of 31 goals. Lustig suggests the Gunners tried to capture him again during last summer's transfer window, but it was Barca who eventually agreed a deal.
Luis Enrique is yet to receive the goal return he perhaps expected with Suarez. He has netted five in 16 matches across all competitions this season, providing eight assists, as recorded by WhoScored.com. Like many who line up alongside Lionel Messi, he is having to adapt to not being the main man in a front three which also includes Neymar.

The trio are working well together, but Suarez is yet to consistently play with the confidence and directness of the player who thrust Liverpool to within two points of the Premier League title last season.
"A clear lack of his trademark killer instinct in finishing a number of clear goal opportunities over recent matches has set alarm bells ringing," writes Marca's L. F. Rojo.
Suarez has a difficult relationship with the English press, but Arsenal could use a striker of his calibre.
Wenger's men can't be considered legitimate title contenders this season. Arsenal lack a striker who can knock in 30 goals each year and are yet to replace Robin van Persie with world-class finishing ability. Danny Welbeck's contribution has proven predictably sporadic since joining in the summer, leaving much of the goalscoring onus to Alexis Sanchez.

It's unlikely Barca would opt to cash in on Suarez so soon, particularly because the club are currently working through a transfer ban. Wenger's offer would have to be extortionate for the Catalan side to even consider cashing in when they don't have the means to replace the forward until January 2016.
B/R UK's James McNicholas recently discussed other signings who could improve Arsenal:
Suarez has always seemed a smart fit for Arsenal—he naturally plays the fast-paced attacking football Wenger loves—but the conditions don't appear right for his return to the Premier League. As we've seen with Mario Balotelli, heading back to England as a figure who splits opinion has the potential to create greater pressure than ever before.
With Suarez's influence growing at Barca, it's questionable whether he would entertain such a return.
