Stephen Curry, John Wall to Play H-O-R-S-E-Like Game at NBA All-Star Weekend

This is A-W-E-S-O-M-E.

Stephen Curry and John Wall will wage a head-to-head battle sponsored by Degree during the 2015 NBA All-Star weekend.

Degree is calling the event "Battle of the Game Changers." It's scheduled to take place on Saturday, Feb. 14, at 10:30 a.m. ET and will be televised on NBA TV.

Degree provided the details of said competition in its official press release:

"

Curry and Wall will face off in a shot-for-shot competition and fans will help play a role in determining who is crowned the 'Ultimate Game Changer,' by voting on one of the shots the two All-Stars will attempt in the battle. Starting Monday, February 9 fans can vote at Twitter.com/DegreeMen and tune in to NBA TV on February 14 to see which fan shot was selected. To take the crown, Curry and Wall also will have to make a variety of shots which will be unveiled at the start of the competition.

"

Sound familiar?

Jake Whitacre of Bullets Forever thinks so, too:

"

From the sounds of things, this appears to be a glorified battle of HORSE. If so, Wall would be a heavy underdog here, considering the two's reputation as shooters. But we still don't have a lot of information on what kind of shot variety we're talking about here. If the competition involves some athletic layups and dunks as part of the contest (Return of the Dunk Wheel?), that could certainly level out the competition.

"

The way voting is structured reminds me of the digital version of H-O-R-S-E that James Harden played for Foot Locker. Instead of fans voting on the attempted shot, though, they challenged Harden to drill buckets they themselves converted on video.

It was Harden vs. The Internet, and it was awesome.

This is different in the sense that fans are selecting, not taking, the shots both Curry and Wall have to make.

Which begs the question: What are the options?

Context is important here if we're going to undertake the life-altering task of figuring out which player has the edge. If they're attempting half-court heaves, one has to imagine the sweet-shooting Curry will wipe the floor with his counterpart.

Wall is shooting just 30.1 percent from deep this season and only 30.7 percent for his career. Curry is posting an NBA-record 43.4 percent clip from long range through his first six seasons. His 39.6 percent success rate in 2014-15 is actually a career low. Anything that has to do with distance gives him an inherent—not to mention steep—edge.

Should the contest include dunks or end-to-end dribble drives, well, the playing field will be leveled by a considerable margin. Wall is super quick, absurdly explosive and absolutely lethal in transition. Shots that demand athleticism bode well for him.

On Saturday, Curry tweeted a video by Degree chronicling his status as one of the NBA's premier game changers:

Wall sent out a response video on Monday to hype up the Battle of the Game Changers:

Until we have more information, we'll just have to wait, all the while assuming it will be an evenly matched competition.

Curry and Wall are premier point guards, and both have already been named as starters for their conference's respective All-Star teams. Whatever the event entails, it should be good.

They'll bring the trick shots. I'll bring the post-pageant, Saturday morning Fruity Pebbles.
