Barcelona Transfer News: Koke Reacts to Camp Nou and Manchester United Rumours
Barcelona shouldn't expect to sign Atletico Madrid pass-master Koke anytime soon. The gifted playmaker has dismissed speculation linking him with a move to either the Camp Nou or Old Trafford, the home of Premier League side Manchester United.
Koke also reaffirmed how happy he is with life in the Spanish capital, per Manchester Evening News reporter Rob Dawson: "I see life in red and white. I am happy here, the club is growing, and I grow with it. I don't see the time or the place to leave here."
Those words should also put paid to any thought of Koke swapping Atletico colours for a Barca shirt in the future. The Catalan giants have long been linked with the talented Spain international.

In fact, last summer, Koke was tempted by a move to the Camp Nou but ultimately opted to stay put. He gave his reasons to Spanish publication AS (h/t Goal.com's Miles Chambers): "It wasn't time to leave. This is my home, where I feel wanted, and the club didn't need to sell. How was I going to leave at the best time for Atletico?"

But that didn't stop links between the player and Barca from persisting. Back in November, a talkSport report claimed Barcelona were ready to pay £55 million if it meant getting the player who could replace ageing schemer Xavi Hernandez.
Koke's latest statement actually rates as more of a blow for Barcelona than it does for United despite the former club's recently enforced transfer ban.
The Red Devils currently have little need for Koke. He's a technical marvel with a work rate to match his exceptional vision.
But the current United squad is far from short of creative players. Manager Louis van Gaal added Angel Di Maria and Ander Herrera this summer. They joined mercurial Spaniard Juan Mata.

Scoring goals and conceding them have been United's problems at various stages this season. But Van Gaal has ample players who can pick a pass.
Yet Barca are surprisingly not so well-stocked. Xavi and Andres Iniesta are both getting up there in years, with the former certainly in the winter of his career at 35.
Meanwhile, new boy Ivan Rakitic is one of those players who is difficult to define. Nominally a deep-lying midfielder, the Croatia international is actually most effective when he's pushing forward.

After selling Cesc Fabregas to Chelsea last summer, Barca are short of a midfielder who can dictate play in a steady, forward-thinking way. Koke is exactly that type of mini-general in the middle.
He helped Atletico capture the La Liga crown last season and is in fine form again this term. The 23-year-old has bagged three goals and 12 assists in all competitions, per WhoScored.com.
Barca will rue not wrapping up a deal before their global transfer ban was enforced. United probably had little chance of landing Koke anyway.
But the real winners are Atletico. Manager Diego Simeone gets to keep his most talented creative player a little while longer.
