Manchester United Transfer News: Adnan Januzaj PSG Bid Snubbed by Louis Van Gaal
Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal won't let Adnan Januzaj join Paris Saint-Germain during the January transfer window. The Ligue 1 champions have had an offer for the Belgian attacking midfielder rebuffed.
That's according to the player's agent, Dirk de Vriese, per French outlet Foot Mercato (h/t MailOnline writer Jack Bezants):
"They directly contacted Manchester United for information. Van Gaal announced that he (Januzaj) cannot leave this winter. Not as a permanent transfer nor as a loan.
The coach considered him as an important player for (the) squad. He is counting on everyone. It seems like a definitive decision, I don’t think that it can change.

Van Gaal's arrival last summer has coincided with Januzaj's development stalling at Old Trafford. The 19-year-old enjoyed a rapid rise last season.

His progress and obvious talent were the lone bright spots during the ill-fated tenure of previous manager David Moyes. But while the Scot was never afraid to throw Januzaj into the fray, even in big matches, Van Gaal has barely called on the young star.
In fact, Januzaj has made just 11 appearances in all competitions since the Dutchman arrived, per WhoScored.com. Worse still, a player who's usually a force in forward areas and naturally a creative influence, doesn't have a single goal or assist to his credit yet this season.
That lack of attacking output is in stark contrast to Januzaj's breakout performances of the previous campaign. Then his numbers even compared favourably to the first-season contributions of former United legend Cristiano Ronaldo, according to MailOnline reporter Matthew Morlidge, who cited Opta statistics.

The main numbers read as follows:
| Player | Appearances | Goals | Assists | Chances Created(incl. assists) | Dribbles |
| Cristiano Ronaldo (2003-04) | 29 | 4 | 4 | 31 | 171 |
| Adnan Januzaj (2013-14) | 26 | 4 | 3 | 30 | 114 |
The sharp drop in the numbers is proof of one thing: Januzaj needs games. At his young age, the teenager needs more playing time to improve his decision making and build confidence.
B/R analyst Sam Tighe believes a loan deal is best for Januzaj at this stage of his career:
Of course, whether PSG would provide the minutes Januzaj needs is open for debate. Certainly, Januzaj wouldn't be the first player to move to the French capital and barely see the pitch: think former Newcastle United playmaker Yohan Cabaye.
But Januzaj may feel his chances for games are just as bleak at United. After all, Van Gaal does have attacking midfielders the calibre of Juan Mata and Angel Di Maria to call on.
He's even taken to playing striker Wayne Rooney more often in midfield. That's a sure sign Van Gaal remains unconvinced by Januzaj's immediate ability to help United return to prominence.
PSG are certainly keen. Back in late-December, French publication Le Parisien (h/t Daily Mirror reporters John Cross and Ed Malyon), claimed Januzaj was open to a six-month loan switch.
After seeing another offer turned back, more time on the fringes of the first team seems in store for the precocious Belgian.
