Pro Bowl Teams 2015: Breaking Down Rosters of Team Irvin and Team Carter
There's just one game standing between us and Super Bowl XLIX—the 2015 Pro Bowl.
The expectations seem high for this year's installment. It's the second year of the fantasy format that actually delivered a decent game in 2014, so it'll be interesting to see if the NFL has worked out the kinks for the second installment.
Captains Cris Carter and Michael Irvin, two NFL legends at the wide receiver position, finished their picks on Wednesday night. The rosters are impressive, as one would expect, but only one team will win this bout between superstars.

Team Carter

Carter received the first selection in the draft, with which he took quarterback Andrew Luck. This is the second year in a row the Indianapolis Colts QB was taken first.
Luck led the NFL in touchdown passes (40), so it shouldn't come as a big surprise. The Stanford product led the Colts to the AFC Championship Game without a viable running game to lean on, making his effort even more impressive.
His team got romped in the conference title game, 45-7. That wasn't just because of a lack of a running game, but it certainly played a small part. Luck actually made an unintentional pun about stomaching the blowout loss:
Carter made a very smart pick later on in the draft by taking Luck's top target, T.Y. Hilton. He matched his career highs in receptions (82) and touchdowns (seven) during Luck's impressive campaign while also setting a career high in yards (1,345).
Hilton might even be the No. 4 receiver on this team. Antonio Brown, Jordy Nelson and A.J. Green are three of the top wideouts in the NFL. This offense is going to be scary good, especially with the triumvirate of Jamaal Charles, Justin Forsett and Alfred Morris coming out of the backfield.
Known for torching defenses during his own 16-year career, Carter was successful in drafting a phenomenal unit. His defensive line consists of three Buffalo Bills—Mario Williams, Marcell Dareus and Kyle Williams. They combined for 30 sacks, and their chemistry will help make this pass rush unstoppable.
Oh yeah, and J.J. Watt will play on the opposite side of Mario Williams. He may even play tight end. That will be a true Pro Bowl move.
The secondary is also deep. Patrick Peterson, Aqib Talib, Sam Shields and Antonio Cromartie should match up well against Irvin's quartet of receivers.
Team Irvin

There are seven Dallas Cowboys on Irvin's team, which doesn't include head coach Jason Garrett, who was also selected by the former Cowboys wideout.
DeMarco Murray will be blocked for by offensive linemen Tyron Smith, Travis Frederick and Zack Martin. Quarterback Tony Romo will have the luxury of handing the ball off to Murray and being protected by three members of one of the top lines in the NFL. Oh yeah, and he'll have tight end Jason Witten to throw to.
The seventh member of the Cowboys to be selected was long snapper L.P. Ladouceur. Yeah, Irvin shows love to them, too.
Plus, he took DeMarcus Ware, a former Cowboy.
Aside from the obvious Cowboys theme, Irvin's roster also features rookie Odell Beckham Jr., who was taken No. 4 overall. The Record's Art Stapleton tweeted about the similarity between Irvin and his No. 1 target:
Perhaps the story with the most intrigue entering Sunday's game is cornerback Vontae Davis. The Colts top defensive back could find himself opposite his teammate, Hilton, and that's a challenge he's ready for:
Hilton responded perfectly (note the new avatar, as well):
Who will get the best of that matchup? Davis is an underrated corner and will be a tough draw for Hilton. But the speed of Luck's top target, combined with the familiarity with his quarterback, should give Hilton the upper hand.
That's bad news for Team Carter. Look for Luck to put plenty of points on the board before yielding to quarterbacks Drew Brees and Andy Dalton.
