Super Bowl 2015: Date, TV Coverage, Prop Bets for Patriots vs. Seahawks
For diehard football fans, the season is already over.
After all, the Super Bowl is more of a televised spectacle than an actual game of pigskin, with the all-day pregame, the highly anticipated commercials, the Katy Perry concert at halftime and the countless ways to bet on the contest outside of just wagering on the winner and loser.
Of course, that is also what makes this game unique, and the prop bets are a source of entertainment (and potential money) regardless of whether you are a fan of the New England Patriots and Seattle Seahawks or not.

Why wait until the actual game kicks off to start betting?
While the coin toss is the literal definition of a 50-50 proposition, six of the past eight Super Bowl tosses have landed on heads. In an even more surprising pattern, the NFC representative has won 15 of the last 17 tosses, and the coin toss winner has taken home the Lombardi Trophy four of the last five times.
However, any good statistics professor will tell you that the larger the sample size, the closer to the actual 50-50 odds you will get with the results. Therefore, it makes sense that heads and tails have both appeared 24 different times in the first 48 Super Bowls.
Interestingly, the Patriots lost the coin toss in three of their Super Bowl titles (36,38 and 39) but won the coin toss when they lost to the Green Bay Packers (31) and New York Giants (46). Perhaps New England fans better cheer for the Seahawks to win the coin toss on Feb. 1.

Odds Shark had not released the specific Gatorade shower props as of Wednesday at 4 p.m. ET, but smart bettors will study these patterns before wagering.
There is an interesting dynamic at play in this Super Bowl if you want to go with the long shot of no Gatorade bath. While the winning coach has escaped the shower only three times since Super Bowl 35, Patriots coach Bill Belichick accounted for two of those instances (36 and 38). New England is often seen as a business-first type of team, and its players may once again skip out on the Gatorade with a victory.
The Seahawks doused coach Pete Carroll in orange Gatorade last year, which made them the third team to choose that color in the last five years. Will we see a repeat if they win another Lombardi Trophy?

Tom Brady has two Super Bowl MVPs on his resume already, so his status as a favorite in this category should not come as a surprise. Given his illustrious career (this will be his sixth Super Bowl appearance, which is a record for quarterbacks), Brady is the logical choice if the Patriots win.
As for Seattle, long-shot Malcolm Smith won it last year and discussed the feeling, via Greg Garber of ESPN.com: "You dream of winning the Super Bowl. But MVP? No. You put in the work and hope it's enough. But, recently, you appreciate every opportunity that comes to you."
Smith became the first non-quarterback to win the MVP in five years last season, which is yet another reason to look at Brady as an option.
If there is a team that is suited for having someone outside of the quarterback win the MVP, though, it is the Seahawks. They were first in the NFL in rushing yards this season behind Marshawn Lynch’s 1,306 yards and 13 touchdowns.
Of course, quarterback Russell Wilson had 849 rushing yards and six touchdowns on the ground of his own, so it’s not outrageous to think Wilson could bolster his MVP chances with a strong rushing performance.

Still, Lynch is the workhorse, and the Seahawks may try to keep Brady on the sidelines by riding Lynch to keep the clock running.
Seattle also has the league’s best defense, and a defensive player won it last year. If the Legion of Boom and company shut down the Patriots attack, another defender could take home the trophy.

Idina Menzel will sing the national anthem in this year's Super Bowl, much to the delight of Frozen fans everywhere.
Odds Shark had yet to post the official over-under for the time it will take Menzel to sing the song as of Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. ET, but bettors could glean some information from these recent patterns.
Bob Patrick of K92 in Virginia also offered some intriguing information that could help bettors looking to do some early research:
Interestingly, the total time has finished under in four of the last six Super Bowls when the song was finished in less than two minutes.
You can argue that performing on that big of stage could kick up some nerves for Menzel, which would cause the singing to be faster. On the other hand, you could say Menzel has thrived under the spotlight a number of times in her career and will belt out the tune and drag out some of the notes in impressive fashion.
Or you could take the safe route and simply enjoy the performance without worrying about how long it takes.
