Super Bowl 2015: Prop Bets Favorites, Point Spread for Patriots vs. Seahawks
Fans of the New England Patriots and Seattle Seahawks can focus on the Super Bowl, but the rest of the nation needs more to keep things interesting.
While commercials for GoDaddy.com are enough for some people, others need to add gambling to the mix to bring entertainment to the big game. Amazingly, this goes way beyond just the point spread and over/under lines.
The Super Bowl brings out the most creative prop bets you will ever see, with a wide variety of options from the coin toss to the length of the national anthem. Here is a breakdown of the latest potential bets from sources around the web.

Basic Lines (via Odds Shark)

Spread: New England Patriots (-1)
Over/Under: 48
This is the simplest way to bet on any football game, and it's made even easier this season, as you barely have to deal with a point spread. Instead of worrying about how much each team is going to win by, you simply have to choose which side you think will win.
Of course, this is not an easy decision, as both sides have reasons to be hopeful. The Seahawks have a quarterback in Russell Wilson who simply doesn't give up to go with one of the best defenses we have seen in a long time. Seattle ranks first in the NFL in passing yards allowed, total yards allowed and points allowed this season.
Curtis Crabtree of Pro Football Talk noted how it was the defense that gave the team an opportunity to come back Sunday:
Meanwhile, the Patriots have been impressive at defending the pass as well, as broken down by Andy Benoit of The Monday Morning Quarterback:
"The Patriots have the best man coverage in football. The Seahawks’ passing attack is heavy on isolation routes, and we just saw their receivers get stifled for 55 minutes by the Packers’ man-centric defense. Expect Darrelle Revis to shadow Doug Baldwin, eliminating Russell Wilson’s top target. ... Most likely, Wilson will have to look elsewhere.
"
Even with Tom Brady running New England, it does seem like this game will remain a low-scoring battle, with the two solid defenses doing their job. Although the spread is still a question mark, the under seems like a safer bet.
Specific In-Game Bets (via OddsChecker)

Super Bowl MVP: Tom Brady (3-2), Russell Wilson (9-4), Marshawn Lynch (9-2), Rob Gronkowski (12-1)
First Touchdown Scored: Marshawn Lynch (5-1), Rob Gronkowski (6-1), LeGarrette Blount (9-1) Julian Edelman (10-1)
Successful Two-Point Conversion?: No (1-8), Yes (5-1)
Defensive Touchdown?: No (1-2), Yes (3-2)
As mentioned above, both teams will have the ability to slow down the pass. As a result, it might be smart to put money on the best running back in this game: Marshawn Lynch.
The Seahawks star seemingly gets better in the playoffs, where he has twice broken his record for most broken tackles in a game:
Lynch has also rushed for over 100 yards in five different postseason games, making him one of seven players ever to accomplish that feat. Head coach Pete Carroll was impressed, via Terry Blount of ESPN.com:
"He was just alive and ripping. He had a great game. It’s been an extraordinary season that he’s put out here, because he’s been so consistent for so long and he’s been so physically right for so long.
He looked explosive again. He looked fast. His attitude is always there. He was able to take advantage of space, and sometimes no space. He just would not go down. He played fantastic again.
"
Picking him to either win MVP or to score the first touchdown could be a smart play.
As for the remaining bets, this is going to be a highly contested game between two very good teams with excellent coaches. Fans should be ready for anything, whether that includes two-point conversions, defensive touchdowns, safeties or any variety of trick plays.
If you can bet something will happen and get good odds, take the chance.
Novelty Bets (via VegasInsider.com)

Will Marshawn Lynch be fined on Media Day?: Yes (8-1), No (1-20)
What color hoodie will Bill Belichick wear?: Grey (-145), Blue (+105)
Although he is a great player, the media generally doesn't like Lynch because he doesn't give good answers. As a matter of fact, he rarely gives any answers, most recently answering every interview question with, "I'm thankful."
Meanwhile, the league is not a big fan of the Seahawks running back either, attempting to fine him for just about everything these days.
John Ourand of the Sports Business Journal discussed what he expects to be more issues at media day this time around:
We don't know what he will do, but the NFL should have a quick trigger to levy a fine.
For those just looking to gamble money for no reason, you can get involved in the Bill Belichick fashion show and choose what color he will be wearing for the game. A correct selection of grey only gets you $68 on a $100 bet, so that might not be the best play.
In reality, betting on hoodies might be a sign you have a problem.
