Liverpool Transfer News: Latest Rumours Surrounding Mathew Ryan, Paulo Dybala
The agent of Australian goalkeeper Mathew Ryan has confirmed his client is interested in a transfer to the Premier League amid rumours Liverpool are interested, opening the door for a swift move to Anfield.
As reported by Metro's Vaishali Bhardwaj, the 22-year-old international is aware of the reports linking him with a move to the Reds. His agent, Mikkel Beck, told Goal (via Bhardwaj):
"I have read the reports that Liverpool are watching Mat, but I am unaware of concrete interest from them. It is normal that there are rumours surrounding him as he is a top talent. We will sit down in the summer and talk about things and if there is something concrete and something special that comes up we will consider it.
Playing in the Premier League would be of interest to Mat as it is one of the best leagues in the world and knowing how ambitious Mat is, it is the kind of league he would like to play in.
He is happy at Brugge, but if concrete interest comes we will sit down and have a discussion.

The athletic goalkeeper has blossomed into a top-quality stopper with Belgian side Club Brugge, keeping the highly touted Mitchell Langerak behind him in the hierarchy of the national team.
Blessed with solid technique and incredible reflexes, Ryan flew under the radar of most European top sides in his native Australia due to a lack of height—a shade under 6'0"—and struggles on crosses, an area he has greatly improved.
His contributions in the Belgian league have certainly been impressive, per OptaJason:
And as shared by WhoScored.com's Ben McAleer, his performances in the Europa League aren't too far behind:
With Brad Jones and Simon Mignolet looking shaky in goal for the Reds, it's widely expected Liverpool will address the position at some point in the future, likely in summer. Bleacher Report's Ryan Bailey and Alex Dimond looked at the situation in relation to the potential arrival of Fiorentina's Neto:
But where Neto is a more established option with limited upside, Ryan is still quite young and raw, with the potential to develop into a far better player than La Viola's Brazilian stopper.
Ryan is a good player—whether he has the potential to be a great one is a different matter. His relative lack of size will hinder him for the rest of his career, and in a league as dependent on the high cross as the Premier League, one has to wonder whether his shot-stopping prowess is enough to make up for that deficiency.
Club Brugge don't have the means to hold out for a significant transfer fee, however, so for a relatively minor investment, Liverpool could bring the Australian in and see whether he can continue his impressive development.
Palermo supertalent Paulo Dybala will not be leaving the club in January, according to team president Maurizio Zamparini. As reported by the Daily Mirror's Aaron Flanagan, the flamboyant president, who previously valued his star forward at £30 million, foresees a summer move:
"He will renew his deal and sign a three-year deal, and if he continues to play that well in the next six months then a big club from abroad will sign him. Where will he go? Abroad. In order I would say England, France, Germany and Spain, because the two big clubs in Spain [Real and Barça] already have a lot of forwards.
"
Liverpool have previously been linked with the young Argentinian, per the Daily Express' David Wright, and with scoring one of manager Brendan Rodgers' top priorities, a January move made a lot of sense.
The imminent return of Daniel Sturridge means the need for another attacking reinforcement has somewhat lessened, however, and the Reds are not expected to be very active in January as a result.
The 21-year-old Dybala is widely regarded as the next great Argentinian forward, setting the Serie A ablaze with consistently strong performances for Palermo. ESPN FC's Alex Shaw is one of many admirers:
Blessed with pace, technique and a keen eye for goal, comparisons with Manchester City's Sergio Aguero are never far off. At 5'9", 150 pounds, Dybala's frame is a lot slimmer, but he uses his body well and still has plenty of time to pack extra muscle.
Teams will likely be lining up for his services once the summer arrives, and given his vast potential, one has to assume the Reds will do whatever they can to sit at the top of the queue.
