Carl Froch Elbow Injury Puts Julio Cesar Chavez Jr Agreement on Hold
Carl Froch will have to wait for his chance to fight in Las Vegas after suffering an elbow injury in training, a situation which places his potential bout against Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. on hold.
The Nottingham-born fighter is reported to have suffered the problem "three weeks into his training camp" ahead of his potential farewell fight in the United States, reported by Riath Al-Samarrai of the MailOnline.
Eddie Hearn, Froch's promoter, believes the battle will still go ahead, per the aforementioned article:
"Carl is devastated but given the scale of the fight and the fact it may be his last, he didn’t want to take any half measures by fighting injured. We were very close to concluding negotiations so as you can imagine it was heartbreaking for Carl to make the call. But we are already looking to reschedule the fight.
"

Froch recently sparked retirement rumours with a suggestive tweet:
Al-Samarrai suggests the encounter was originally looking to be scheduled for March—less than a year after The Cobra beat George Groves for the second time in a record-breaking Wembley Stadium bout—but the clash could now be set for either April or June.

Froch's record currently stands at 33-2, with losses against Mikkel Kessler and Andre Ward the only blots against his name, per Boxrec. Chavez would offer an extremely tough challenge and currently enjoys a 42-1-1 record, his only defeat coming at the hands of Sergio Gabriel Martinez in 2012.
While Groves previously suggested "there's a demand for a third fight" between him and Froch, per Sky Sports, there's no doubt the latter has nothing left to prove against his fellow Englishman.
At 37 years old there's likely only time for one glamour appearance in Vegas, a fight which would act as the culmination of everything Froch has achieved.
