Real Madrid Transfer News: Marco Reus Terms Agreed, Latest Blancos Rumours

Gianni VerschuerenJan 15, 2015

Spanish newspaper El Confidencial believes Real Madrid have agreed to terms with Borussia Dortmund's Marco Reus regarding a summer transfer move, as rumours the Germany international has decided his future continue to intensify.

According to El Confidencial (h/t 101 Great Goals), one of the more trustworthy sources when it comes to Los Blancos, the Champions League holders will pay Die Schwarzgelben €25 million and offer the forward a five-year deal worth €7 million per year:

"

The talented 25 year old has been linked to every top European club, with Chelsea, Bayern Munich and Real Madrid all showing notable interest.

According to El Confidencial today, Marco Reus has agreed a five-year deal at Real Madrid on the same salary as Toni Kroos and Karim Benzema.

Reus will reportedly earn €7m a year once Real Madrid shell out €25m to release him from his Dortmund contract.

He has allegedly been taking Spanish lessons for a number of weeks in preparation for a move to Spain.

While we've seen plenty of similar reports surface in the past few weeks, this one carries a little more weight. According to Spanish football expert Rafael Hernandez, El Mundo Deportivo is reporting the same news:

He appears convinced the deal is all but done:

The 25-year-old would become the latest in a long line of world-class talents joining Los Blancos and would present the club with a massive steal at just €25 million, his reported buyout clause set to activate this summer.

Bleacher Report's Sam Tighe is a big fan of the German, although he rightfully points out Reus does come with some injury concerns:

Real Madrid's attacking department is currently stacked with world-class performers, and one has to wonder what the future holds for the group should Reus join them.

The Sport Bible's Liam isolates Gareth Bale as one star who might leave the club if the right offer comes along:

Due to the buyout clause, Reus likely won't be moving in January, so don't expect to hear any official announcements until summer. As a result, speculation will continue, and no team will know for sure whether he'll actually join until he has signed on the dotted line.

One player who is unlikely to join Los Blancos is Barcelona's Lionel Messi. The Blaugrana have come out in force to deny a rift between the player and manager Luis Enrique in the past few days, and on Thursday, the manager reaffirmed his star forward won't be going anywhere, via Marca:

"

We all think that Leo Messi is going to be here for many years to come. That's what all of us at Barca want. We're not even considering the future without him.

I don't want to feed controversies. We're ignoring all the rumours and looking for the best possible atmosphere. That's what we're looking for and that's what we have in there.

"

Eternal rivals Real Madrid were always seen as an unlikely destination, but manager Carlo Ancelotti recently sparked the imagination of fans worldwide when he admitted it would be incredible to coach a team fielding both Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, via beIN Sports:

The Catalans would likely never consider a sale, however, and following Enrique's latest comments, it seems the Argentina international will not be leaving the club any time soon.

Young starlet Martin Odegaard has been advised not to move to the Spanish capital, either, as former Real Madrid great Michael Laudrup told Merkur (h/t AS' Carlos Forjanes) he believes the Dutch Eredivisie is a better fit:

"

Odegaard? I’m not entirely convinced that joining a club like Madrid would be the right move. He is 16 years old, I cannot imagine seeing him playing right now in Real Madrid or Bayern Munich. If he were my son, I would advise him to go to Holland

"

The 16-year-old Norway international is expected to join Real after interviewing with just about every top club around Europe, and while he is one of the world's top midfield prospects, questions will be asked about his immediate future should he move to Los Blancos.

Real have plenty of established talent plying their trade at the position, and for the sake of his development, a move to a club like Ajax would make more sense. Odegaard clearly believes in his own ability, however, and if a challenge is what he seeks, Real will undoubtedly provide the biggest one.
