The award, which is also known as Athletes in Action, was first awarded in 1989. Manning joins a honoree's list that includes Mike Singletary, Reggie White, Kurt Warner and, mostly recently, Aaron Rodgers, among others.
Regardless of his on-field accomplishments, which are numerous, Manning has always been considered a consummate professional. Somebody who represents the positive impact NFL players can have on both the national and local levels.
His efforts include the PeyBack Foundation, which he established in 1999. His official site states the program is "to promote the future success of disadvantaged youth by assisting programs that provide leadership and growth opportunities for children at risk."
Those endeavors will continue to have an impact on the life of others, regardless of whether or not he steps back onto the football field next season.
