On Monday, Matt Barlow of the Daily Mail reported Kane is set for two months on the sidelines, "making him doubtful for England's World Cup qualifier against Scotland" on Nov. 11.

Kane's scans did not reveal a fracture but did uncover ligament damage, per Barlow.

Barlow's report stated: "Spurs are concerned it will fall into the category of Grade 2 damage, which would normally rule out a player for six to eight weeks."

The Tottenham forward was integral to the club's success last season, scoring 25 goals in 38 Premier League appearances to help Spurs claim a third-place finish, but he's struggled to rediscover that form this term.

Just as was the case in 2015-16, Kane failed to break his scoring duck early in the season, and it's actually summer purchase Vincent Janssen who has arguably been the more impressive attacker early on in the campaign.

A reliable striking presence was something the north Londoners long lusted after and finally found in Kane, who also netted 31 goals across all competitions during the 2014-15 campaign.

His injury means Tottenham could be without one of their most important players for upcoming fixtures against CSKA Moscow and Manchester City in late September and early October, leaving their domestic and European campaign in some doubt for the time being.

New pressure falls on summer arrival Janssen to fill the void in Kane's absence, while Tottenham could push South Korea forward Heung-Min Son into the middle as an alternative.
