Jeff Hardy Injured After Falling off Steel Cage at TNA's 2015 Lockdown Taping
TNA Superstar Jeff Hardy may have already set the standard for high spots for 2015 on Friday in New York City at TNA's Lockdown taping, but he was injured in the process.
Hardy's brother, Matt, confirmed the news Saturday morning after Instagram user Bill Commons posted video of the spot Friday night:
"Appreciate your concerns for Jeff.. Last night he was legit hurt but we won't know how bad until he has some scans done. That's the update.

Hardy is widely considered one of the premier daredevils of the sport. He is one of the most popular stars in the company and regarded as an elite draw for the promotion. He has always performed a style reckless to his own health but typically manages to escape major injury.
TNA recently underwent a reboot of sorts as it embarked on a new era after moving from Spike TV to Destination America. The company opened 2015 in New York on Jan. 7 with three consecutive days of events, which culminated with the taping of Lockdown, which will air at a later date.
TNA needed to make an impact, pun intended, to start 2015. Hardy indeed has the wrestling world talking after taking another infamous high-risk bump. Former ECW legend Tommy Dreamer quickly expressed his concern for Hardy's health on Friday night:
In September 2013, Hardy retweeted a fan-made image with the perfect caption to display his bump from Friday night:
The extent of Hardy's injury remains to be seen, though his history has proven that he will be fine and wrestle in the near future. However, the company embarks on an international tour from Jan. 29 to Jan. 31, so it is likely this intense spot was done to keep Hardy away from those events.
It also remains to be seen how TNA will utilize Matt Hardy if Jeff is sidelined. The two have been partners for months, but could easily break off into singles competition at any time given their range as performers. In July, Jeff Hardy spoke with Ring Rust Radio, via Joe Arcidiacono of DelcoNewsNetwork.com, about how important it was to team with his brother again:
"We both went through the dark periods and on the other side of those dark periods, we came out on the better side and to be performing the way we are, whether he’s on an Indy show or Ring of Honor and I’m doing my thing, we’re still rocking. To reunite and to be just as good as we’ve ever been pays off for us and the fans. It’s a good feeling. I’m 36 years old and to get back together and still rock the house is a good feeling.
"
At this point in his career, many expect Hardy to slow down and manage his risk better. However, Hardy has always been a breathtaking performer who builds intense suspense in his match. He is phenomenal at selling his opponent's offense, as well his own, and knows how to tell a great story in the ring. He takes fans on an emotional roller coaster every time he steps in the ring. In order to achieve that type of connection with fans, Hardy risks his body to entertain and put forth a more interesting product.
An educated guess would be that fans should expect to see Hardy back in action some time in February. TNA would be wise to continue the momentum Hardy built with this spot, however, and release a statement as well as video updates from Hardy himself. TNA has a chance to capitalize on this mainstream attention and drive viewers to its product now that it has emerged with Destination America.
