Referee Lee Mason was hounded by several players of the home side after he brandished a red card for Gabriel Agbonlahor for what appeared to be a 50-50 clash with Ashley Young. According to The Guardian's Stuart James, Young later admitted he believed he actually fouled Agbonlahor, and not the other way around.
The shocking decision swung the momentum in favour of United, and while the visitors failed to turn said momentum in a win, the Villa players were still visibly upset with Mason.
Most fans thought the fact Young himself admitted Mason made the wrong decision would result in the FA showing Villa some leniency, but on Tuesday, it became clear that wouldn't be the case. This particular fan expressed the opinion of most:
The FA rescinded Agbonlahor's red card, as reported by BBC Sport, but Villa's charge of failing to control their players stood as a separate event.
