The Most Dangerous Team in the Postseason: Seattle Seahawks

The defending Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks started the season with a putrid 3-3 record, but managed to dominated the NFC for the remainder of the year and entered the playoffs as the No. 1 overall seed in the conference.

Seattle finished the season with nine wins in its last 10 games and was utterly dominant on the defensive side of the ball. The Seahawks finished the regular season first in passing yards allowed per game (185.6) and third against the run (81.5).

The team also allowed only 39 combined points over the final six games.

When asked by Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times about leading the NFL in fewest points allowed once again, head coach Pete Carroll said, “I think that’s fricken awesome. That’s a big time accomplishment. To lead this league for 2 straight years in probably the yardage and points; that’s a big, big deal. That’s the players. It’s the same guys out there.”

ESPN Radio host Jim Moore shared some interesting facts about the team’s recent success:

As the defending Super Bowl champions, Seattle understands the pressure that comes with a deep playoff run.

With veterans like running back Marshawn Lynch and cornerback Richard Sherman leading the players who haven’t been down the championship road before, Pete Carroll and the coaching staff will be ready for anything that gets thrown their way.

The first-round bye is a huge boost to ensure everyone is healthy and rested both physically and mentally after a tough regular season. Add in the fact that the team earned home-field advantage throughout the postseason, and there is no doubt the Seahawks are the most dangerous team in the hunt for the Super Bowl.
