Jordy Nelson Sets Packers Single-Season Record for Receiving Yards

Bleacher Report MilestonesJan 5, 2015

Green Bay Packers wide receiver Jordy Nelson finished the 2014 campaign with a new franchise single-season record for receiving yards, per the Packers' official Twitter account.

Nelson's 1,519 yards broke the previous Green Bay record of 1,497, set by Robert Brooks in 1995.

Just as Brooks did in '95, Nelson helped his team to a division title, as the Packers clinched the NFC North and the second seed in the NFC with a Week 17 victory over the Detroit Lions.

Among receivers with at least 50 catches this season, Nelson recorded the sixth-most yards per reception (15.50) in the league, per Pro-Football-Reference.com. Of that group, only 13 averaged at least 15 yards per catch.

To reach the 1,519 total in receiving yards this season, it's no surprise Nelson required the fourth-most targets (151) in the league.

Only 23 receivers reached 125 targets during the 2014 regular season, but the Packers had two representatives among the collective in Nelson (151) and Randall Cobb (127). While five other teams also had multiple representatives, Green Bay's combo was the most efficient, catching a combined 67.9 percent of the passes thrown their way.

The duo, along with quarterback Aaron Rodgers, give the Packers one of the strongest passing attacks in the league. Following a bye week, the Packers will face the Dallas Cowboys at Lambeau Field in the divisional round in a game that figures to be fairly high-scoring.
