WWE NXT Results: Biggest Winners, Losers and Moments from December 25

Erik BeastonDec 26, 2014

The holidays brought with them a special look back at the year that was 2014 in NXT.

While the majority of the show was centered on reliving some of the most important and vivid moments and matches from the past 12 months, and looking at the Superstars and Divas who had tremendous impact on the brand, the sole new match left the greatest impression on fans.

In a rematch from Takeover: R Evolution, Charlotte defended the NXT Women's Championship against former friend and tag partner, Sasha Banks.

The two Divas unleashed rage and fury on each other, leading to one of the most vicious and intense Divas matches of the year.

Charlotte retained her title and celebrated with her father, the legendary and iconic "Nature Boy" Ric Flair, closing out what was a banner year for her.

The second-generation Diva was most certainly a big winner coming out of Thursday's broadcast.

Who joined her? More importantly, who emerged from the final episode of 2014 as a loser?

Let's take a look.

Winners: Charlotte and Sasha Banks

Both former BFFs continued to raise the bar for women's wrestling in WWE with another outstanding match Thursday night.

The action was fast and furious, featuring some of the hardest-hitting and highest-impact maneuvers seen from the Divas in quite some time.

It was easy for the audience to believe that the women genuinely disliked each other because of their intensity and aggression. From the moment the bell rang all the way through to the finish, neither woman held anything back.

Following up a critically acclaimed match at the latest Takeover special, they did not let fans down, delivering a worthy sequel and proving to the world that they are among the finest female professional wrestlers on the planet today.

Losers: Main Roster Divas

Anytime two women from NXT go out and have the quality of match that Charlotte and Sasha Banks had Thursday night, it becomes more depressing to think about the current state of the WWE Divas division.

Whereas the women of NXT are allowed the opportunity and time to go out and prove themselves as competent, even extraordinary workers, the WWE Divas are oftentimes shortchanged on television time and forced to stumble through two-minute matches that not only stunt their growth as performers but fail to forge that ever-important connection with the audience.

Matches like Charlotte vs. Sasha from Thursday night earn the trust of the audience. Fans expect to see great things out of them because they have seen them before.

Without that trust, the WWE Divas fail to get over because they not only have failed to show that they can consistently bring quality in-ring work but have also not been afforded the necessary time to do the job.

Thus, no one cares about them or their matches—hence the silence when they take to the ring for their three minutes of ring time on Raw and SmackDown.
