Yaya Sanogo: 3 Premier League Clubs Who Would Benefit from Arsenal Striker Loan
Arsenal striker Yaya Sanogo is set to leave the club on loan in the January transfer window, with his likely destination a Premier League side, according to BBC Sport.
David Ornstein writes: "Arsenal are keen for the 6ft 4ins forward to get more game time and build confidence," continuing that "Sanogo is likely to be sent to another Premier League club rather than moving overseas."
Sanogo has struggled to make an impact at the Emirates Stadium since his free transfer from Auxerre in 2013, scoring just one goal in 19 appearances.
Nevertheless, Sanogo has impressed sporadically for the Gunners, particularly with his bullish holdup play.
The 21-year-old has plenty of time to rouse manager Arsene Wenger, and a loan move in January would suit all parties.
But which Premier League sides would benefit from loaning Sanogo in January?
Here are three tailor-made options, including a pair of London rivals.
Crystal Palace
1 of 3
Crystal Palace manager Neil Warnock has cut an increasingly exasperated figure at Selhurst Park of late, as his strikeforce's struggles affect his side's league form.
Between them, strikers Fraizer Campbell, Dwight Gayle and Marouane Chamakh have scored just six league goals this season.
Warnock recently told Sky Sports how his "options up front are limited," underlining his January transfer desperation by claiming reinforcements would be brought in "hopefully on December 31, at about midnight."
With Chamakh his only target man at present, Sanogo would boost Warnock's strikeforce considerably.
Queens Park Rangers
2 of 3
Queens Park Rangers boss Harry Redknapp felt the loss of first-choice striker Charlie Austin in Monday night's 3-1 Premier League loss away to Everton, and his side's failure at Goodison Park should highlight a need for attacking reinforcement.
Eduardo Vargas toiled in a lone striker role, and while a late consolation effort from Bobby Zamora offered Redknapp a glimmer of hope, the forward's 33 years mean he cannot compete consistently.
Sanogo could offer QPR a youthful option in lieu of Austin, who, despite his league success so far, will likely see a dip in form at some point this season.
A short trip across London could be the perfect move for Sanogo in January.
Burnley
3 of 3
Of all of the Premier League's struggling sides, Sean Dyche's Burnley are in most need of a goalscorer.
With just 11 goals scored in 16 league games so far this season, Dyche must complement his side's impressive defensive work with success at the other end of the pitch.
Although last season's exceptional centre-forward Sam Vokes is set to return to the side this festive period after a long-term knee injury, per Liam Blackburn of the Press Association (via the Daily Mail), Burnley would be wise to ease him in.
Sanogo could offer the perfect foil for this, and his aerial ability and continental approach would both perfectly suit Dyche's system and add a much-needed finesse to a colourless forward line.
Furthermore, as BBC Sport outlined in April, Dyche's well-organised, thorough attitude to training and development could help nurture Sanogo's potential.
