Arsenal Transfer News: Cesc Fabregas Snub Warrants the Sack, Says Ian Wright
Former Gunners hero Ian Wright insists missing out on the summer signing of Cesc Fabregas would be enough to justify the axing of Arsene Wenger or a fellow key figure at Arsenal.
Arsenal rejected the chance to bring Fabregas back from Barcelona in the last transfer window, despite their first-option clause, leaving Wright to air his frustrations on Twitter:

Chelsea capitalised on Arsenal's snub by making a £30 million move of their own for ex-Arsenal man, who has since gone on to become one of the major keys behind their early-season success.
Wright later confirmed his statements were genuine and he was merely speaking his mind:
Wright is among the masses of Gunners supporters growing increasingly concerned with the goings-on at the Emirates.
Wenger has an array of creative talent in his line-up already, with the likes of Mesut Ozil, Santi Cazorla and Aaron Ramsey competing for similar positions. However, the manager has come under heavy fire once again this season for failing to contest another title, which may indeed be related to certain shortcomings in the transfer market.

Arsenal still lack defensive solidity in midfield and defence, which is why Bleacher Report's Garry Hayes argues the club should target another La Liga departure in the shape of Real Madrid's Sami Khedira:
There is the argument that given the opportunity handed to them, Arsenal should have purchased Fabregas first and thought about the tactics later, but the chance was declined.

Fabregas' form at Stamford Bridge has merely helped in piling the hurt on at the Emirates Stadium. To see a London rival benefit so greatly from an asset which could have well been Arsenal's inevitably ushers in thoughts of what could have been.
Squawka and WhoScored.com illustrate the Spaniard's importance in constructing chances for his teams, stretching back to his final campaign at the Camp Nou:
Since then, central midfield has been shown to be a problem area. Jack Wilshere's recurring ankle injury will see him miss out until February at the latest, while ageing duo Mikel Arteta and Mathieu Flamini aren't encouraging options for the years ahead.
Wright's comments would suggest he's all too aware of the gap between the two clubs at present, Chelsea currently leading the standings while the Gunners sit in sixth, struggling for top-four contention.
One aspect of the deal which should be considered is that there's no guarantee Fabregas would have improved Arsenal by the same margins.
Mourinho is fortunate to have an engine-room anchor of Nemanja Matic's quality, the kind of player who Wenger should really be pursuing, along with a more elite class of defender.
However, lovelorn Wright is a supporter of the notion that somebody at Arsenal should pay for the failure to capture Fabregas, and fans are beginning to point the finger at Wenger.
