Dolph Ziggler Must Main Event WrestleMania 31
Dolph Ziggler is on quite the roller-coaster ride in the WWE.
Over the past two months, Ziggler’s life was made a living hell thanks to The Authority. He sided with John Cena and ended up paying for it, eventually losing the intercontinental title to Luke Harper on November 17.
It all turned around for him at Survivor Series, exactly when Ziggler needed it to the most.

He took part in the elimination match, teaming with Cena, Erick Rowan, Ryback and Big Show. They battled Harper, Seth Rollins, Kane, Rusev and Mark Henry.
The bout would eventually lead to Ziggler, battered and beaten down, against Harper, Kane and Rollins. Ziggler wound up being the last survivor after defeating each remaining competitor of Team Authority.
He hit the superkick and the Zig Zag on Kane first. He followed that up by rolling up Harper in a schoolboy. Triple H interfered despite Ziggler overcoming Rollins. Then, Sting made his debut and took out Triple H. He draped Ziggler’s arm over Rollins’ chest, and the referee counted to three.
Ziggler winning the match for Team Cena was an important step in the right direction; he's been involved in the main events on recent editions of Raw and SmackDown. Where his journey ends remains to be seen. But frankly, it’s pretty clear where his final destination should be come WrestleMania season.
Dolph Ziggler must main event WrestleMania 31. That’s the only next logical step for him.
It’s the one significant thing Ziggler hasn’t done in his career. He’s been world champion, intercontinental champion and Mr. Money in the Bank. Yet Dolph Ziggler has yet to receive his WrestleMania moment.
What a story it would be! Ziggler, The Showoff, could wrestle for the WWE title. Imagine the spectacle it could be, especially if Brock Lesnar is still champion by the time WrestleMania season comes around.
Lesnar, the current WWE champion, is a powerhouse who's well-rested, having last wrestled over two months ago at the Night of Champions pay-per-view. Compare that to Ziggler, who is undersized and works nearly every show he’s in. Insurmountable odds don't even begin to describe what Ziggler would be facing in this potential match.
However, Ziggler may not be in WWE’s long-term plans.
The rumored Superstar who will be facing Lesnar at WrestleMania 31 is Roman Reigns. According to The Wrestling Observer Newsletter (h/t Wrestle Zone), Reigns has been picked to face Lesnar on March 29 at WrestleMania 31 in Santa Clara, California. It makes sense from the WWE’s viewpoint.
Reigns is exactly what the WWE wants in a franchise player. He’s got the size, the look and wrestling resonates in his veins. He was the powerhouse of The Shield stable and is also a cousin of The Rock. Reigns is a talent ready to play, at least from the physical standpoint.
There should be some concern with his promo work. He hasn’t really had that moment where everyone can believe in him. If he’s not ready by WrestleMania and is facing Lesnar, expect Lesnar’s advocate Paul Heyman to carry the buildup. That’s not a good idea.
This leaves Ziggler, who has more charisma than Reigns. The man who proclaims to steal the show every single night would learn so much bouncing off against arguably the greatest manager of all time in the WWE. Add in his knack for selling moves, and he can make Lesnar appear more dangerous than any other Superstar who's ever gone toe-to-toe with the former UFC fighter. Now that’s a thought to behold.
Dolph Ziggler must main event WrestleMania 31. He can make Lesnar more destructive than ever and can bounce off Heyman better than Reigns. Regardless of the outcome, surviving against the Beast Incarnate is worthy enough of an accomplishment.
The time for Dolph Ziggler to become the show instead of stealing it is now.
