WWE TLC 2014: Superstars Who Will Shine Under PPV Spotlight

Sharon GlencrossDec 2, 2014

Look for several WWE Superstars to shine at the Tables, Ladders & Chairs show in Cleveland later this month.

It might be easy for weary fans to dismiss TLC as simply another "B" show casually thrown out at the end of the year on the way to the much more important Royal Rumble, but, really, this year's event is shaping up to be so much more.

In fact, the stage has been set for the following performers to deliver amazing, jaw-dropping performances and steal the show.

Seth Rollins

As announced on Monday's Raw, Seth Rollins will face off against John Cena in a Tables match. There's an intriguing added stipulation: If Cena loses, he will no longer be the No. 1 contender for Brock Lesnar's WWE World Heavyweight Championship.

The bout marks the culmination of the program between the pair, who have been feuding off and on for months.

Rollins will no doubt thrive in the match—this is the same guy who made his name in The Shield by taking crazy, car-crash-style bumps. A Tables match is perfect for him.

Ideally, he will win the bout. Not only would it relieve us of having to sit through yet another Cena-Lensar match, but it would also establish Rollins as a major heel heading into 2015. A clean win over Cena would do wonders for his career.

Dolph Ziggler

Judging from television, Dolph Ziggler appears to be headed for a showdown with Luke Harper over the Intercontinental Championship.

Ziggler's career has regained its momentum since the star's sterling performance at Survivor Series last month. He's regularly main eventing Raw again, getting plenty of promo time and in general feels like a much bigger deal.

Winning the belt back—in his hometown of Cleveland, no less—would be the perfect way to recap his career renaissance.

It nearly goes without saying that the format of the match plays to his strengths, too. Like Rollins, you can expect him to bump around and get fans everywhere talking (though hopefully neither man goes too far; the last thing the company needs is for one or both to get injured. WWE has lost enough people over the last couple of months).

Dean Ambrose

While the Ambrose-Bray Wyatt program may have started out rather badly—the weird and nonsensical ending of the Hell in a Cell pay-per-view springs to mind—it’s actually gotten a bit better in recent times. Finally, both guys are starting to show the spirit and energy fans have known all along that they were capable of.

Indeed, Ambrose's madness at Survivor Series and subsequent DQ were easily two of the highlights of the show. The passion and anger he showed in the segment were fantastic.

Count on Ambrose to deliver a good performance at this show, too; there's no doubt he’ll want to end this feud on the highest note possible and put himself in a solid position heading into the Royal Rumble.

Not only could TLC have potential ramifications heading into WrestleMania season—it will be extremely  interesting to see if Cena keeps his title shot—but expect the wrestlers mentioned, and maybe some others, to truly step up in the ring and make the most of their extra weapons and props.
