Examining Potential WrestleMania Opponents for Dean Ambrose
Despite being one of the most talented babyfaces on the WWE roster, Dean Ambrose’s WrestleMania status appears to be up in the air. At the moment, there doesn’t appear to be any concrete plan for the former Shield team member heading into the Santa Clara show.
But Ambrose fans shouldn’t get too disheartened. There are, in fact, several intriguing options for his challenger at the event.

Most Likely Backlash Heel/Face Turns 🎭

Admittedly, this one is a long shot; however, this time last year, few would have thought Daniel Bryan would walk out of WrestleMania 30 with the WWE World Heavyweight Championship—but that’s exactly what happened.
Per F4Wonline (via WrestlingInc), Roman Reigns vs. Brock Lesnar is currently penciled in for the event; however, if Reigns fails to deliver as a top babyface—and, frankly, he wasn’t exactly living up to expectations even before hernia surgery put him on the bench—Ambrose could potentially find himself marked for the spot with Lesnar instead.
It would be a compelling clash of personalities. No doubt the mic exchanges between Ambrose and Paul Heyman would be must-see television, too.
With his in-ring talent, charisma and mic skills, the star is bound to get a title run sooner or later. WWE pulling the trigger and pushing him earlier than planned wouldn’t be a surprise.
Seth Rollins

The messy, interference-filled ending of the Ambrose/Seth Rollins Hell in a Cell bout left a question mark over their long-running feud. Both have seemingly moved on from the storyline, but it’s hard to fight the feeling that there’s still unfinished business between the pair.
Going by that bout's inconclusive ending, the writers set the stage for returning to this program at some point.
If WWE cannot think of any new foes for each man, it’s possible the two could find themselves squaring off again at Levi’s Stadium. Ideally, this would be where, after losing to him twice, Ambrose finally scores a major win over his nemesis.
Chris Jericho

Chris Jericho has settled quite nicely into the part-time veteran role over the past few years. He shows up occasionally, works with the younger stars for a while before taking another sabbatical.
A potential feud with Ambrose could happen in the future, as WrestlingInc reported the two interacted on a recent house show, and Jericho put him over huge.
Indeed, in many respects, Ambrose is similar to a young Jericho. Both are smaller, charismatic guys who rely on their mic skills and wrestling style to get over. A WrestleMania clash between the pair would have the potential to steal the show, if done correctly.
Even the most devoted Ambrose fan would have to admit that his career has faltered somewhat in recent times; he just doesn’t feel like as big a deal as he used to.
But the WWE writing crew can get things back on the right track over the next few months by giving him a solid and high-profile WrestleMania feud. Certainly, the booking options are there, the company just has to want to utilize them.
