WWE SmackDown Spoilers: Complete Results and Analysis for November 14, 2014

Erik BeastonNov 11, 2014

Ryback has shaken up the entire foundation of the Survivor Series pay-per-view, betraying Team Authority while pledging no allegiance to Team Cena. With Triple H and Stephanie McMahon punishing any and all that dare oppose them ahead of the November 23 show with brutal and violent beatings courtesy of their henchmen, one has to wonder what repercussions Ryback will face on SmackDown and beyond.

Speaking of The Authority, Triple H and Stephanie join the returning Chris Jericho for a very special episode of the Highlight Reel. Will a single statement or insult incur the wrath of the COO and his lovely wife?

Analysis

Chris Jericho returns for one night and hosts the Highlight Reel on a throwaway episode of SmackDown, a show a small portion of the overall WWE audience watches.

Makes sense, I guess.

After Monday's Raw, Ryback vs. Kane is a match the company easily could have milked all the way to a big singles match at TLC. Instead, WWE gives it away on free television, part of a show that only a portion of its audience actually bothers to stay home on a Friday night to watch. It makes no sense from a business standpoint.

What does make sense is that Ryback continues to look strong. He gets the rare second chance to make a first impression as a headline babyface.

The Ambrose-Wyatt rivalry continues after neither man appeared on Raw. Their feud continues to play second fiddle to the big Survivor Series tag team main event, and an appearance on Smackdown was needed to give the Ambrose-Wyatt storyline some momentum.

While the return of Jericho, the continued rise of Ryback and the next page in the book of Ambrose and Wyatt should be enough to convince fans to tune in, the real gem of the night should be the IC title bout between Dolph Ziggler, Tyson Kidd and Cesaro.

From an in-ring standpoint, Kidd is a legitimate contender for MVP of WWE in 2014. His work in NXT has been among the best in the entire company, and seeing him in the same ring as Ziggler and Cesaro should be a lot of fun.
