Dragic Dealing With Back Strain

Sunday, Dec. 14

Phoenix Suns guard Goran Dragic will not play in Sunday's game vs. Oklahoma City with a back injury.

Paul Coro of AZCentral.com reported the details of Dragic's injury:

Dragic was widely viewed as an All-Star snub last season as a catalyst for the Suns' surprising, swift turnaround. Under first-year head coach Jeff Hornacek, the dynamic Dragic averaged a career-best 20.3 points at a 50.5 percent clip to go with 3.2 rebounds and 5.9 assists per contest.

With Dragic out, the Suns will turn to Eric Bledsoe and rookie Tyler Ennis to help fill the gap in production.

If Dragic is unable to come back quickly the Suns have a ton of depth to fill in for Dragic. Although his individual impact won't be possible to replicate—sweet outside shooting and an uncanny ability to attack the rim in particular—Phoenix isn't dead in the water without Dragic.

The void created by Dragic's absence can be capably filled by Bledsoe and Thomas. Meanwhile, there may also be a silver lining in the form of giving the rookie Ennis valuable minutes for his development.
