Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Matt Simms entered to replace Vick, via Eric Allen of NewYorkJets.com:
Vick later returned to the game, per Andrew Siciliano of NFL Network:
Following the game, head coach Rex Ryan said that Vick would start next week, via the Jets:
Ryan moved Vick into the starting lineup after Geno Smith's dreadful outing against the Buffalo Bills in Week 8. The Jets were hoping he would bring some playmaking ability to the quarterback position that the second-year player out of West Virginia could not.
While the dual-threat star remains a solid backup option at this stage of his career, his injury history is no secret. His style of play opens him up to consistent punishment. Over time, all of those hits take their toll on his body.
In 12 seasons, Vick has played all 16 games just once (2006). Sometimes it was due to not being the starter, but often it was an injury preventing him from taking the field.
Thus, it shouldn't come as a major shock that his status is once again up in the air. It's something the Jets surely knew was a possibility when inserting the 34-year-old veteran into the lineup.
It's a frustrating setback for Vick. Rich Cimini of ESPN.com passed along comments from him about the opportunity after he took over the reins of the offense.
"I think it's a great opportunity," he said. "Any time you get named to be the starter, it's a great thing. I think you have to relish it, but also take it extremely serious, and understand what's at stake and what needs to be done."
He probably won't have many more chances to showcase his remaining talent in a starting role. Another injury isn't going to help his cause.

The other problem for the Jets is being without Smith as well after he was ruled inactive with a shoulder injury, via Pro Football Talk:
At the time the original decision was made, Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News reported Smith was losing support in the locker room:
This is just the latest example of a season where very few breaks have gone the Jets' way. It could make for a very interesting offseason in New York.
