Best Athlete Photobombs

Nick DimengoOct 27, 2014

Although I'm not a huge fan of doing it myself, photobombing another person's photo attempt is one of the funniest things that a person can do, in my opinion. Unexpectedly creeping into the background of a picture and giving some random face only adds to how a photo turns out, and, typically, the person posing actually finds the photobomber to be pretty clever.

But while we've all likely fallen victim to the act, not many of us have had a pro athlete show up in the background of a photo of ours.

It has happened to a few lucky people, though, and these are just a few examples of the best ones, with a couple of videobombs thrown in for good measure.

8. Jacoby Jones

Yep, that's definitely Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Jacoby Jones sneaking his way into the background of an interview during a season of the show Dancing with the Stars back in 2013.

And it's absolutely glorious that he did.

To all those future video/photobombers out there, Jones proves that the key to a solid attempt is making the goofiest face seen by man, and I would say he did one heck of a job accomplishing that here, don't you think?

7. Hunter Pence

OK, so the San Francisco Giants' Hunter Pence might not have exactly photobombed a group of people while riding around on his scooter, but seeing him zip by on the thing during a news broadcast a couple of weeks ago during the team's playoff run was just too funny to keep off this list.

Pence has seemingly been doing it all for the Giants during this postseason, proving that, in addition to his baseball skills, he has some strange quirks that make him one of the more interesting athletes right now.

This videobomb is just another example of that.

6. Robert Griffin III

He may be on the fritz following some gruesome injuries over the past couple of seasons, but last year, Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III found time to slyly make his way behind Ken Starr, who investigated former President Bill Clinton's relationship with Monica Lewinsky.

While Starr was the man who found out all the dirt on Clinton—leading the president to impeachment back in 1999—Griffin was the one who was sneaking around here, getting into the picture as Starr posed with another guy.

5. Joe Kelly

Unless he happens to play for your team—which, in this case, is the Boston Red Sox—there probably aren't too many fans who are familiar with pitcher Joe Kelly.

For those who are looking for their favorite athlete, though, I would suggest you get to know him better.

That's because he seems to be the king of having fun, either photobombing a few people by jumping into the arms of a teammate—as he did last summer—or celebrating his former team's National League Division Series win by, well, doing this with his beer.

Overall, Kelly might just be the athlete I want to hang out with the most—especially if he continues to epically photobomb people.

4. Bryce Harper

Some fans might not like Bryce Harper at times, arguing that he's overrated and a bit of an egomaniac, but he has shown a few times that he knows how to make a situation light-hearted.

Harper showed that earlier this year when he went undercover and fooled fans into thinking he was someone other than himself and then again by sneaking into the background of the lovely Melanie Iglesias' picture, no doubt surprising her when she looked at it.

This is anything but a clown pic, bro.

3. Josh Hamilton

Although he has seen some decline in his numbers since inking a huge deal with the Los Angeles Angels a few seasons ago, Josh Hamilton is still a star worth bragging about seeing. After all, he did win a league MVP award back in 2010 while playing with the Texas Rangers.

As great as J-Ham was on the field that year, he proved that he was even better at photobombing a couple of seasons later by perfectly pulling off this hilarious moment while a few girls posed at a game.

A former No. 1 overall selection, Hamilton was regarded as a five-tool player, but he showed he's more than that with his awareness to catch these ladies turning the lens on themselves.

2. Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson

While this photo of former wrestler and current action star Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson was hilarious enough to get nominated for a Shorty Award as the best photobomb on the Internet—yes, that is a real thing—it's not the first time Johnson has shown his skills at sneaking into a picture.

He showed that by doing the same thing in another hilarious photo, looking like he is having a really good time in the process.

The Rock may be intimidating and could, I'm convinced, squash anything into a pulp, but these pictures show he has a funny side too.

1. Mike Tyson

He may have been the former heavyweight champion in boxing, but current entertainer, actor and comedian Mike Tyson shows in this picture why he's so darn funny—because he is one heck of a photobomber.

The key to any good photobomb is being as secretive and, yes, creepy as possibly while making the move to get into the background without being noticed. Tyson does this beautifully, making a face that, well, is quite terrifying if you ask me, all while the fans posing have completely no idea what's going on behind them.
