World Series of Poker 2014: Betting Odds Favor American Winner

OddsShark.comOct 21, 2014

The conclusion of the biggest live poker tournament of the year will be played out in a couple of weeks when the November Nine resumes the action at the 2014 World Series of Poker Main Event.

Betting lines are already available on the remaining players at the event, and the nine have been handicapped based on their stack size and their previous tournament results.

Jorryt van Hoof (38,375,000 chips) is the favorite at 57-20 odds to win the World Series of Poker Main Event, followed by Felix Stephensen (32,775,000 chips) at 4-1 odds, Mark Newhouse (26,000,000 chips) at 5-1 odds, Andoni Larrabe (22,550,000 chips) at 7-1 odds and Dan Sindelar (21,200,000 chips) at 15-2 odds.

Martin Jacobson (14,900,000 chips) at 8-1 odds, Will Pappaconstantinou (17,500,000 chips) at 10-1 odds, William Tonking (15,050,000 chips) at 12-1 odds and Bruno Politano (12,125,000 chips) at 16-1 odds round out the November Nine field.

Up for grabs for the remaining nine players is a chance to win the $10 million first-place prize and the coveted World Series of Poker Main Event bracelet.

Netherlands native Van Hoof, the chip leader at the tournament as play resumes, has been cashing in live events for two years but is not as experienced as some of the other November Nine participants. Stephensen, from Norway, has limited live tournament experience as well heading into the November Nine.

The big name in the 2014 November Nine is Newhouse. This poker pro has a long list of tournament cashes, including a WPT title and an appearance in last year’s November Nine. At 5-1, per sportsbooks monitored by Odds Shark, a wager on Newhouse looks like it has the best value among the top chip stacks.

Spanish poker pro Larrabe has a list of live tournament cashes that includes a PokerStars Caribbean Adventure title back in January 2013. Larrabe has the skills and the chips to potentially take down the event.

The last November Nine player with a healthy chip stack is Sindelar, and the young American has had four World Series of Poker cashes this year and could be worth the risk at 15-2.
