Vincent Jackson Poised for Big Week 6 Against Soft Baltimore Ravens Pass Defense

Should wide receiver Vincent Jackson suit up for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday, he's poised to go off for a huge game against a soft Baltimore Ravens secondary.

Greg Auman of the Tampa Bay Times tweeted that Jackson returned to practice on Friday, keeping his chances of playing on Sunday alive:

Jackson was disappointing the first four weeks of the season. He hauled in two touchdowns, but caught just 13 of his 35 targets and gained only 134 yards. Then he exploded against the New Orleans Saints in Week 5.

He was targeted 12 times, caught eight balls and racked up 144 receiving yards. Quarterback Mike Glennon is building a nice rapport with V-Jax, and that should bode well for the duo heading into Tampa Bay's Week 6 matchup with Baltimore.

The Ravens pass defense ranks 26th in the NFL, allowing 269.2 yards per game. They've only given up four touchdowns, but the sheer number of yards in the air they allow makes Jackson a viable option.

Baltimore has struggled against top wideouts this year. The Ravens have been torched in all five of their games, meaning that Jackson is in for a productive week. Check out their stats below:

The fact that Glennon is coming into Week 6 on a high note after a strong game against the Saints just means that the chances of Jackson finding success are even higher. He was 19-of-32 with 249 yards and two touchdowns in that contest. While not super flashy, Glennon is certainly doing enough to get the job done.

Glennon hooked up with Jackson on a great completion in Week 5, one that showed Glennon's surprising mobility. It's Glennon's ability to evade the pass rush that gives Jackson the time to find open room in the secondary.

Offensive coordinator Marcus Arroyo spoke about Glennon's mobility, via Roy Cummings of The Tampa Tribune:

"

To some surprise, maybe, he does a good on the move, he really does. He moves well, he does a good job of keeping his eyes downfield, and he’s got good arm angles.

"

The Ravens will likely put some pressure on Glennon and the offensive line, so the QB's ability to keep plays alive and find Jackson down the field is crucial. He's already shown success doing so. Plus, the porous secondary of the Ravens should make life a little easier for the young quarterback.

It might not take very long for Jackson to get open, meaning that Glennon won't have to stand tall and take a hit. He can simply get the snap, find his man and release.

There are many factors in play when considering how well Jackson will perform in Week 6, but all signs point to his building off last week and posting more solid numbers. The Ravens will have to keep tabs on where he is on the field at all times.
