The Most Awkward Sports-Celebrity Moments Ever
We probably all like to think that some of our favorite celebrities aren't as awkward as the person sitting next to us in the train station, but as they've shown us time and time again, they absolutely are.
And there's almost no other place that their true colors come out more than when they get in front of a camera during a sporting event.
Seemingly interviewed because of their fame, cameras have caught some really weird encounters over the years, with musicians, actors and other entertainers completely freaking us out with some of the things they do when at a sports venue.
Which ones were the strangest? Keep reading to find out.
Chris Rock
1 of 14One of the most intense competitors sports has ever seen, Kobe Bryant rarely lets anything get in the way of his focus during a basketball game.
So he certainly wasn't going to allow comedian Chris Rock to get into his head during the NBA Finals a few years ago.
With Rock trying to have a conversation with Kobe during a timeout, the L.A. Lakers superstar tuned him out as if he was a dad just letting his kid ramble on about his day, avoiding any eye contact or acknowledgement of a conversation, whatsoever.
In the end, the actor laughed it off—but it had to be pretty awkward.
Ozzy Osbourne
2 of 14After hearing his rendition of "Take Me Out to the Ballgame," it's shocking that Ozzy Osbourne has made millions as a musician—because whatever that was, it wasn't singing.
Mumbling through the entire song, Ozzy absolutely gives one of the most horrendous performances in Wrigley Field history—which has been a longstanding tradition during the seventh-inning stretch.
Thankfully, probably because of moments like this, the Chicago Cubs are running a stricter policy on who can and can't sing during the game.
Yeah, good call, Cubbies.
Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly
3 of 14Let's face it—no one likes to be on an arena's "Kiss Cam."
It's always that weird moment that pairs first dates up, coworkers together or worse, brothers and sisters, forcing them to make a split-second decision as to how they can get off the big screen as quickly as possible.
But actors Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly? Well, they didn't seem to mind the camera finding them, as they locked lips to the entertainment of the crowd during a L.A. Lakers game several years ago.
Unexpected and random, it's still a little awkward—yet somehow it works for them.
Kevin James
4 of 14Actor Kevin James definitely knows how to draw some laughs, doesn't he?
But when he was playing in a celebrity doubles match in 2012, he probably didn't think that he would wind up having so many people laughing at him.
Not exactly built for the game of tennis, James gave his best attempt at one of the toughest shots in tennis—hitting the ball through his legs.
What happens next? Well, what many would think—he fails and bites it.
Jimmy Buffett
5 of 14
Most people probably think of singer Jimmy Buffett as a laid-back Parrothead who sings songs about drinking on the beach and good times in the sun.
But when Buffett disagrees with a ref's call during his beloved Miami Heat games, he's anything but relaxed.
He proved that by actually getting booted back during a 2001 game in South Beach, when he actually got so raucous that the official didn't want him sitting courtside any longer.
Some fans just don't know when to lay off the officials—and, unfortunately, this one happened to be a famous singer.
50 Cent I
6 of 14If there's one thing that is a gut check for a guy, it's when he leans in to give a girl a kiss and she shamefully turns away, making the entire exchange rather weird.
Now imagine that happening on national TV—pretty awkward, right?
Well, rapper 50 Cent had to live through that back in 2013 when he was spotted by reporter Erin Andrews during the Daytona 500.
Helping ease the embarrassment, Andrews played it cool by saying it was her fault that the rapper's lips didn't connect. But why would 50 go in for the kill by trying in the first place?
Kevin Hart
7 of 14While actor/comedian Kevin Hart is obviously a funny guy, this staged ejection from the NBA Celebrity All-Star Game a couple years ago isn't one of his finer moments.
Clearly doing anything he can to get the crowd into it, Hart tries to fit every single cliche into his act to keep people laughing.
What ends up happening, though, is him making an awkward scene, with other players basically wondering when he's going to stop.
Katy Perry
8 of 14She may be mega-attractive, but I don't know whose idea it was to get singer Katy Perry on the set of College GameDay this past weekend while the crew was in Oxford for the Ole Miss-Alabama game.
I mean, the fact that she went out there in that fluffy pink shirt that was supposed to be acting as a football jersey should have been enough of a reason to keep her from getting in front of the camera.
And just when you thought it couldn't get worse than that shirt, Perry started booing and tugging on the trunk of Lee Corso's Alabama headpiece before throwing hot dogs at the camera.
It was at that point that everyone watching was perplexed at what the hell was going on.
Bill Murray
9 of 14While Bill Murray and former Chicago Cubs broadcaster Harry Caray's interview prior to the Cubs' first night game in Wrigley Field is awkward, it's also one of the most beautifully hilarious things I've ever seen.
With Murray putting on some shades and making a few goofy faces toward the camera as the thing starts, he immediately gets handed a beer by Caray—with the actor taking a few sips throughout the chat.
If there's any reason to question how much of "The Man" Murray is, just watch this over and over to realize why he can turn any awkward situation into gold—especially considering Caray was probably tanked himself during the entire interview.
Roseanne Barr
10 of 14I mean, really, this is how former TV star Roseanne Barr wanted to be remembered for singing the national anthem?
I get it—she was pretty funny and typically thought of as not giving two you-know-whats when she had her show, but this is just ridiculous.
Asked to sing "The Star Spangled Banner" prior to a San Diego Padres game in 1990, Barr showed everyone that she has the voice of a (hoarse) angel, belting out the words like no one was watching.
Unfortunately, there were thousands of people who were—with them booing her pretty much the entire time.
Donald Trump and Bill O'Reilly
11 of 14Sitting front row during a New York Yankees game? Priceless.
Doing so with either Donald Trump or Bill O'Reilly? Well, pointless.
The two proved that when they were caught doing their own "version" of the popular wave that fans like to do around the stadium.
It's one thing to give a half-assed effort like Trump does—coming in way after the thing passes him—but it's even worse when O'Reilly simply sits there and tosses up a single finger to show his support.
Hilariously, the camera caught it all.
Nicole Richie
12 of 14Just when you thought that Nicole Richie would do herself a favor and step up her game any time a camera was on her, the former reality star goes and does something like this.
Sitting courtside during a L.A. Lakers game years ago—you know, like, when she was more relevant—Richie didn't hold back when declaring her love for the Lakers player who takes top billing on her list.
That would be Kobe Bryant—but not for the reasons you might expect—which Richie so confidently told the reporter.
Eminem
13 of 14He might seem like he's full of confidence and street cred whenever he's rapping or doing an interview about his music, but when Eminem got in front of the camera up in the Saturday Night Football booth last year during the Michigan-Notre Dame game, he showed anything but.
As awkward as anyone I've ever seen, Marshall Mathers—which Brent Musburger uncooly calls him the entire interview—was either messing with all of America or really hopped up on something.
It eventually turned into a lovefest between Musburger and Eminem, with the two complimenting each other for the entire discussion while Kirk Herbstreit uncomfortably watched on.
50 Cent II
14 of 14Most of us have seen this miserable looking first-pitch attempt by rapper 50 Cent that happened at a New York Mets game earlier this year.
And while 50 was already mentioned for embarrassingly getting denied by sideline hottie Erin Andrews at a NASCAR race earlier in this piece, I think this just-a-bit-too-outside toss takes the cake as his most awkward moment during a sporting event.
In fact, let's just save any more celebs from hurting their reps by barring those who can't throw a baseball from trying it from now on.
