Fernandinho Injury: Updates on Manchester City Star's Hamstring and Return
Manchester City could be without Fernandinho for their upcoming Premier League clash with Tottenham after the midfielder was reportedly ruled out for two weeks with a hamstring problem.
The Brazilian international limped out of City’s 2-0 win at Aston Villa, and according to Mark Ogden of the Daily Telegraph, he underwent scans on Monday to reveal the extent of the injury. Subsequently, the 29-year-old has been withdrawn from the Brazil squad and looks set for a fortnight on the sideline.
Stuart Brennan of the Manchester Evening News thinks the holding midfielder has a decent chance of making the clash at the Etihad Stadium:

But according to Ogden’s piece, Fernandinho has a 50-50 chance of making it back for the Tottenham game. The knock he’s suffered to his hamstring could see him rested from domestic action to ensure the player is fresh for City’s critical Champions League clash with CSKA Moscow.

Fernandinho has become a key part of the Manchester City setup since his £30 million move from Shakhtar Donetsk, and his industry in the middle of the pitch will be sorely missed, especially with Yaya Toure struggling for form so far this season.
Thankfully for Manuel Pellegrini, summer signing Fernando returned to the first team and made a crucial impact in City’s recent win at Villa Park. Frank Lampard is also in excellent form and can do a job in a deep-lying midfield position, if required.

Nonetheless, the injury stricken Brazilian is well acquainted with the City team, the demands of the Premier League and the requisite requirements of Pellegrini's tactics. It’s critical for the English champions’ UCL aspirations that their No. 25 gets back to full fitness as quickly as possible.
